Job Title: HVAC Mechanic

Job Summary:EMCOR Government Services seeks an HVAC Mechanic with an HVAC Master or Journeyman license in at least one State (DC) and a CFC Universal certificate in Washington, DC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installs, services and repairs environment-control systems in commercial buildings, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout.

  • Mounts compressor and condenser units on platforms or floor using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.

  • Installs, services, and maintains environmental equipment/control systems.

  • Assist estimators with HVAC layout with in building environment.

  • Seek out and correct potential problems before they occur.


  • HVAC Master or Journeyman license in at least one State (DC).

  • Formal apprenticeship with 4 or more years of training.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Journeyman in servicing and repair of equipment.

  • CFC Universal certificate.

  • Must be familiar with Screw Type and Reciprocating Chiller.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of packaged direct expansion units, split systems, chilled water piping systems, DDC, pneumatic, and electric controls.

  • Must have good trouble shooting skills with electrical circuits/components for refrigeration equipment and refrigerate piping systems.

  • Must be able to read both ladder and line wiring diagrams.

  • Must be able to communicate, work well with customers/co-workers, and handle being under pressure at times.

  • Must have good organizational skills with completing paper work and managing refrigeration/parts inventory.

  • Must have average or better skill level with rigging, handling, and moving equipment.

  • Must have or be able to obtain an HSPD-12 Level clearance.

  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

VIEW JOBS 6/22/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-09-20T00:00 What you will do Completes assigned maintenance and service duties, inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repair and preventive maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Troubleshoots and resolves primarily HVAC mechanical problems, as well as some electrical and controls problems. Responds to service & warranty calls. Inspect, diagnose, service and repair mechanical systems using a variety of tools and instruments. Perform specified preventative maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing and cleaning of equipment. Perform prescribed non-destructive tests; collect and deliver samples for analysis. Location: Will primarily support long-term maintenance and service projects at Fort McNair and Fort Myer (military experience not required). Company vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and all necessary tools are provided Shift: First Shift, 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday-Friday. Union: Local 602 or 486 (employee's choice) How you will do it Must be skilled craftsmen in their trade, and have a minimum of five (5) years actual, practical working experience in the commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical equipment service industry. May be required to pass a satisfactory examination as to their special skill. What we look for Required 1. 5+ years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting and service experience. 2. Valid driver's license with boiler and steam operational & service knowledge. 3. Good verbal and written communication skills. 4. U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance and any other worksite specific badges. (This will involve a background/character, work experience, education, financial/credit and a criminal history records check). Preferred 1. Chiller maintenance experience 2. Mechanical Journeyman License 3.
