Instructor - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

  • Responsible for delivery of all course materials and instruction for academic programs offered by the institution, to prepare the student for the workplace;
  • Is knowledgeable of and adheres to all institutional educational policies and procedures;
  • Maintain student records and participate in curriculum development and revision;
  • SCI instructors have the primary responsibility of aiding our students in the achievement of their goal (i.e. to be trained and placed), and delivering a Student First experience.


  • Minimum 5 years experience working in HVAC;
  • Texas ACR Contractor /Certified Technician License (issued by Texas Department Licensing and Regulation);
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with installation and repair on all types of commercial and residential air conditioning, heating and refrigeration;
  • Universal EPA 608 required;
  • Preferred one NATE certification, HVAC Excellence certification, LEED Certification, RSES Certification, and/or HVAC technical trades school diploma with continuing educational classes;
  • Solid foundation of Superheat & Subcooling, thermodynamics, electrical, ohms law, and electromagnetism.

Exercises no supervision.</p><p>Work Location</p><p>318 N Las Moras, San Antonio, Texas, 78207</p><p>Work Hours</p><p>7:45 a.m.</p><ul><li><p>4:30 p.m., Monday</p></li><li><p>Friday</p></li></ul><p>Essential Job Functions</p><ul><li><p>Troubleshoots, repairs, installs and maintains a variety of heating and air conditioning equipment.</p></li><li><p>Removes pumps and performs maintenance work, may frequently lift/carry up to 30 pounds to operate HVAC maintenance equipment.</p></li><li><p>Adjusts and calibrates temperature control devices.</p></li><li><p>Assists more senior technicians in chiller and boiler inspections; performs preventive maintenance.</p></li><li><p>Performs preventive maintenance inspections and repairs.</p></li><li><p>Gives technical advice and guidance as needed.</p></li><li><p>Installs new equipment according to provided instructions.</p></li><li><p>Performs water treatment analysis.</p></li><li><p>Adjusts and maintains chemical feed systems.</p></li><li><p>Initiates requisitions for parts and supplies.</p></li><li><p>Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.</p></li></ul><p>Job Requirements</p><ul><li><p>High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).</p></li><li><p>One (1) year work experience maintaining and repairing heating and air conditioning equipment.</p></li><li><p>Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.</p></li><li><p>Must certify with the State of Texas as Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician within six (6) months of employment.</p></li><li><p>Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
