Position Description

As a HVAC Installer/Sheet Metal Mechanic you will be responsible for layout, assembly and install of various brands of commercial and industrial equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, AHU, duct, coils and pumps and associated equipment.

HVAC Installer/Sheet Metal Mechanic also manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction, performing repairs, documenting solutions and making recommendations for further action. Out of town, overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

The following qualifications along with individuals previous work experience will be considered by the company when evaluating applicants:

18 years of age or older
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
5 years' experience in Commercial and Industrial HVAC installation
5 years' experience as HVAC sheet metal mechanic
OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required
High school diploma or equivalent

Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required

Required Skills Job Position: HVAC Mechanic I Location: NAS Pensacola and surrounding bases, Corry Station and Saufley Field Reports to: Supervisor, HVAC Experience: Two years' experience required relevant to the job description and working conditions below (one year experience must be Commercial HVAC experience, previous positions held which only involved typical household heating and cooling systems do not count towards this experience requirement). Knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration required. Fundamental electrical skills and the use of multi-meters required. A thorough understanding of safety procedures related to HVAC systems, UV lighting systems and lock out/tag out procedures is required. Education Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Licenses and Certifications Requirements: State of Florida Class "E" driver's license or equivalent required. A physical exam and respirator fit test will be required within 30 days of the hire date (company will arrange). Job Description: * Performs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual Periodic Maintenance (PM) inspections on all types of HVAC units. * Cleans units, changes filters, check belts or change if needed, and lubricate moving parts. * Checks and identifies units for other repairs. * Performs visual, audible, and mechanical checks for the proper temperature of conditioned spaces, the proper operation of different parts of the refrigeration cycle, proper oil levels, unusual noises, overheated bearings, loose connections, faulty insulation, frayed or loose belts, leaky gaskets or seals, worn pulleys, duct work deficiencies, servicing, loose connections, make splices, insulate exposed wires, replace fuses. * Accomplishes repairs on heating (natural gas, steam, hot water, heat pump) and cooling (refrigerant or chilled water) HVAC units such as air handling units, condensers, thru-wall type, window units, packaged, self-contained, evaporative, fan coil, refrigerators, walk-in/reach-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, water coolers, air dryers, ventilation fans, and other equipment of comparative complexity. * Assists HVAC Level II/III craftsmen as needed. * Performs maintenance on UV lighting systems. * Complies with all OSHA safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards. * Uses Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to identify chemical characteristics. * Completes Work Orders and timecards daily and accurately. * Work also involves other duties as assigned, including compliance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Employee Handbook. * Initiates material requisitions to order parts/materials needed for PM work orders. Physical Effort: HVAC craftsmen often lift, carry, and handle materials, tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for at least 30 feet and extended periods. They occasionally work in cramped and inconvenient surroundings requiring manipulation of equipment in awkward positions for prolonged periods. Work frequently requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Must be able to ascend and descend on ladders of various heights. Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding or platforms where parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard‑to‑reach places. Working Conditions: The work is accomplished both indoors and outdoors, all climates, including working outside and on top of tall buildings, often exposed to hot sun for extended periods of time. Frequently works in cramped spaces, hot/cold attic spaces, areas with low overheads, and areas with hot/cold, oily, wet, and dusty surfaces. Mechanics are frequently subject to sudden temperature changes when working on refrigerated equipment such as walk‑in coolers and freezers. Responsibilities * The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. * Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. * Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves, inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. Qualifications * High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum three (3) years actual and recent F-18 aircraft maintenance / repair experience is required. * An A&P license shall be considered equivalent to three (3) years' experience within the aircraft field. Previous aviation rotary wing electrical repair experience desired. * Must have completed military aviation maintenance training, aircraft maintenance technical school curriculum or possess an FAA issued A&P license. * Candidates with prior U.S. Navy F-18 aircraft maintenance experience required. * Knowledge and use of special tools / equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. * Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. * May be required to pass a U.S. Government background security check. * May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. * Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
