As an HVAC Technician, you are responsible for the safe repair and preventive maintenance of all HVAC equipment to include hydroponic, steam heat pump cooling towers and forced air systems. Administer and monitor the performance, safety and training of all shift personnel to ensure employees ability to evaluate and respond to HVAC problems and emergencies. On call responsibilities, overtime and weekend work likely.Position Analysis:
Assemble work orders from previous day and prioritize into work schedule.
Remove and repair or replace faulty or outdated HVAC equipment.
Organize training programs for apprentice HVAC mechanics.
Develop and administer a published Preventive Maintenance schedule for all HVAC equipment.
Maintain daily logs, work sheets and file system for all HVAC equipment.
Manage HVAC parts department, order needed parts from vendors, large purchases will be reviewed with supervisor.
Keep accurate files.
Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics a must.
Familiarity with hydroponic, steam, heat pump and forced air heating systems.
Safety - Learns and complies with all company safety rules; Uses appropriate safety equipment at all times; Immediately reports all unsafe conditions to supervisors; Must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery, or materials encompassed by job duties; Must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
Successful candidates must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Minimum five years hands-on experience with HVAC equipment.
Minimum two years' experience with energy management systems.
Knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Familiarity with pipe drafting and blueprint reading.
Superior knowledge of electrical circuits, electrical safety and schematic layouts.
Possess supervisory abilities including excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills.
Previous experience training a helper or apprentice.
Ability to handle deadlines and changing priorities.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment; Perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner; Work as part of a team as well as complete assignments independently; Take instructions from supervisors; Exercise problem-solving skills; and Interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
