SUMMARY:

Perform, document, implement all phases of preventative maintenance as detailed in the AZ School Board Facility Board requirements to ensure a safe and properly maintained environment for students and staff, in which to learn and develop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs maintenance, completes work orders, preventative maintenance tasks, and daily duties to District facilities and equipment. Knowledge of central plant operations and preventative maintenance is essential.

• Performs set up and maintenance of District EMS to accommodate events and maximize energy efficiency.

• Keeps all preventative maintenance logs from each site up to date and ready to submit to the School Facilities Board.

• Provides training to maintenance employees as requested by Administration.

• Diagnosis trouble and performs assembly, disassembly and adjustments on a variety of electrical equipment repairing and replacing motors, switches, contracts, relays, solenoids, electric tools, light fixtures, ballasts, heating elements in furnaces, energy management system, and other electrical work.

• Performs mechanical maintenance on equipment. Replaces defective or worn out parts including gears, shafts, bearings, belts, chains, etc.

• Maintains, cleans and adjusts boilers, HVAC units, exhaust systems, blowers, generators, and other equipment.

• Maintains existing plumbing and fixtures and installs new plumbing and fixtures.

• Maintains kitchen equipment and sets up preventative maintenance programs for ice machines, walk in coolers, freezers, ovens, hoods, steamers, hot boxes, steam tables and other related equipment.

• Makes self available when called on for emergency situations and must be able to work flexible schedule.

• Attend training seminars.

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.

• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

• Other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education/Certification

• High school diploma

• Formal training and documentation of central plant and related equipment maintenance.

• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)

Experience

• Experience in heating, air conditioning and ventilation, carpentry, electricity, energy management.

• Two years kitchen equipment experience.

Ability

• Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.

• Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

• Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.

• Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

• Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms and roofs.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
