Perform a variety of general mechanical and/or electrical assembly operations on HVAC units for use in the rail car industry, while adhering to quality requirements and best practices as provided through drawings and manufacturing work instructions.

  • Perform cost effective mechanical assembly of Knorr products in a timely manner. Assembly processes include installation of sub assemblies and other components in an assembly line area, installing gaskets and sealants, running wiring and fixing components and hardware installation

  • Adhere to quality requirements and notify supervisor of product deficiencies or design problems.

  • Adhere to manufacturing approved processes and standards for all work performed.

  • Participate in all required training courses and practice learned methods in everyday work. Examples are KPS, 5S, torque training, crimp training, etc.

  • Adhere to all safety requirements (including wearing the required protective equipment) and perform all work in a safe manner while on the shop floor.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma

  • 1 year technical degree or certificate in a technical field is desired, or 3 years related experience and/or training

  • 5 years manufacturing experience in a mechanical field

  • Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tool including complex test rigs and fixtures

  • Computer skills preferred

  • Ability to work well with others


  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting

  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

VIEW JOBS 9/30/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-12-29T00:00 The MS Assembly Test Technician performs basic mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build contactors and resistors for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications. This role will also be responsible for the test and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, utilizing various measurement devices, hand and power tools. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Assemble parts or components to build a whole new product. * Contribute in fitting, building, or reconstruction of various parts to ensure smooth process of component amalgamation. * Study, read, and understand the schematic diagrams, blueprints, product manuals, process documents, and gather information regarding its parts, fixtures, tools, etc. * Set up, arrange, and operate equipment (if applicable), as per the specifications and instructions from the Cell Leader or Supervisor. * Perform regular test and inspection procedures to ensure that the product is formed in accordance with the specifications. * Implement and identify needs for improvement by conveying it to the senior personnel, so that quality of products is maintained * Monitor the shelf life of any consumables used to complete the build process. Follow all established disposal methods associated with consumable material. * Provide support and assistance to other colleagues, as directed, and any other duties as requested. * Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with the company's rules and policies. * Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.
