Closes and locks buildings after late meetings. Trains other employees and inspects work on completion. Receives and relates assignments to others. Operates light automotive equipment. Assumes leadership role in absence of the Supervisor. Minimum of two years progressively responsible experience in the set-up and housekeeping functions in a first class convention center environment. Relevant hotel experience may be considered if hotel operations included significant meeting facilities. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training in custodial or building maintenance work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid appropriate drivers permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Examples of Duties SUMMARY Supervises and participates as a working supervisor in set-up and clean-up activities for events and general housekeeping at the facility. Performs custodial work in the care and cleaning of buildings in accordance with ISSA 540 cleaning standards and established production goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff involved in event set-up and clean-up operations. Assist the Building Services Manager in the selection of staff. Supervise and participate in set-up and clean-up of events and general housekeeping of the facility. Monitor the work of crew leads and temporary labor crews while on shift; provide advice and assistance. Provide ongoing inspection of buildings and grounds; identify housekeeping deficiencies; and initiate corrective measures. Maintain storage areas, supplies, and equipment as necessary; order supplies and materials when needed. Recruit, select, and train new employees for the Housekeeping Department. Collects and disposes of refuse from interior and exterior of assigned buildings/areas; gathers items for recycling Cleans and disinfects toilets, urinals and lavatories; refills soap, towel and tissue dispensers Washes windows, walls, woodwork, bathroom fixtures and venetian blinds Prepares quantities of cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for assigned tasks Dust chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment Sweeps, mops, waxes and uses buffers on floors Shampoos carpets as needed Reports repairs beyond capabilities of custodial workers to supervisor Closes and locks buildings after late meetings Loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and materials to be transported by truck Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, materials and equipment Receives and relates assignments to others both orally and in writing Operates light automotive equipment Trains other employees and inspects work on completion Assumes leadership role in absence of Supervisor SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises housekeeping staff in set-up and clean-up activities for events .
