This position functions as an assistant to agency staff and supervisors in providing human services to Child Protective Services (CPS) clients, including transportation and documentation of services provided. It also includes supervising visitations between parents and children and providing various clerical functions. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (FPS) staff, representatives from various organizations, and the general public.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides transportation for clients to and from appointments as requested by caseworkers and/or Unit Supervisor.

  • Observes and/or supervises parent and child visits.

  • Completes appropriate forms and documentation concerning client contact including data entry into IMPACT and other agency systems.

  • Maintain out-going paper and/or electronic appointment calendar for scheduling requests made by caseworkers/supervisor.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations including performing various clerical duties such as typing, filing, faxing, copying, answering/receiving telephone inquiries, etc.

  • Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts.

  • Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy. Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Ability to effectively supervise children of various ages.

  • Ability to operate a personal computer, several software packages, and basic office equipment.

This position requires use of the applicant's personal motor vehicle to complete job functions.

Applicants for positions must have a reliable motor vehicle; an acceptable driving record for the past five years; a current, valid Texas driver's license appropriate for the vehicle and passenger or cargo load that applies to the job; and proof of insurance. Applicants must provide proof of driving record, insurance, and license. Initial Selection Criteria:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

  • One-year full-time social services, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, general office, or FPS experience.

Factors such as education and experience may be considered when establishing the starting salary for employees coming from other state agencies within Texas.

VIEW JOBS 5/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-20T00:00 Overview Floor Technician / Environmental Services Technician The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining hospital facilities in a clean and sanitary environment by ensuring all floor surfaces are maintained, along with the following duties: * Be able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. * Perform proper techniques of floor care and preparation of areas to be cleaned, buffed, stripped or waxed as well as carpet cleaning. * Sweeps, mops, waxes all floors using clean water, sanitized mops and accurately uses floor polishers. * Must be able to operate and maintain all floor cleaning/finishing equipment to include but not limited to floor buffer/burnishes, water extraction machine, and carpet cleaning equipment. * Moves furniture and exercises safety procedures and avoids damage to furniture or walls. * Cleans assigned areas using proper solutions, equipment and techniques. Uses properly labeled chemicals. Follows cleaning procedures and checks off list after completion of each room. * Cleans equipment after each use and stores it neatly in designated area. * Checks cleaning supplies each day before going to area and exercises responsibility in the use of supplies. * Follows cleaning procedures and checks off list after completion of each room. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping or the Director of Facility. Responsibilities The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for: * Maintaining hospital facilities in a clean and sanitary condition * Reading warning signs and safety instruction * Working quickly and accurately and follow requests * Having the manual ability to perform such tasks as mopping, buffing, polishing, scrubbing, and moving furniture * Performing repetitive cleaning operations throughout the workday, under specific instructions with little need for judgement in working out job problems * Planning and coordinating all laundry activities using judgmental and verifiable criteria to evaluate performance equipment and various aspects of the laundry program Qualifications The Floor Technician must: * Have at least one year of experience as a floor tech, preferably in a healthcare setting preferred * Be able to read warning signs and safety instructions. * Be able to work quickly and accurately. * Be able to understand directions and requests given in English.
