Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) - The Schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 3:00 pm-11:30 pm. In addition to a monthly two-hour staff meeting is required -
The City of Portland is seeking a Human Services Specialist for our Homeless Services Center. As a Human Services Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Portland area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conducting outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness in the community.
Completing necessary documentation for shelter intake and HUD related funding.
Assisting with check in procedures at the Homeless Services Center.
Providing crisis intervention services to clients in need.
Assisting with the operation of the Homeless Services Center: Including managing client files, maintaining accurate records, completing General Assistance Applications, and more.
Collaborating with community partners to ensure clients receive comprehensive services.
Participating in regular team meetings and trainings to ensure the provision of high-quality services.
The ideal candidate for this position will
Have the customer services skills needed to work with a vulnerable population-including those experiencing mental health or substance use issues.
They will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Will be able to work collaboratively with a diverse group of clients and community partners.
Experience working in a homeless shelter.
BA in Social Work or Equivalent is Preferred, but not required.
A valid Class C Driver's license is required.
