Human Services Program Coordinator - 12 Month Faculty

The Human Services Program Coordinator manages all aspects of the associate's and certificate programs in Human Services under the direction of the School of Professional Studies and University Transfer. The position is responsible for administrative tasks and an instructional load.

This position is located at the main campus, but may report to all Blue Ridge CTC locations as required to meet the needs of the position.

This position will include managing a virtual office as needed.The Program Coordinator is responsible for all administrative functions for the program which include but are not limited to:

• Orientation of new students in the major

• Academic advisement of students in the major

• Selection, scheduling, and support of program faculty

• Oversight and management of program curriculum

• Selection of course textbooks and instructional materials

• Scheduling program courses

• Assessment of student learning

• Completion of institutional and state-level program reports

• Collaboration with college and university transfer partners

• Participation on institutional faculty committees

• Completion of all required training and development activities

• Coordination of student field placements and workplace experiences

• Maintain open office hours of at least 10 per week, with extended hours during academic advisement and final exam periods

• Participate in recognition and enrollment/admissions events to support student and faculty engagement

• Instruction of 24 credit hours annually

• Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor, in accordance with policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the school's Guidelines for the Administration of Faculty Workload.

Education:

• Master of Social Work from an accredited institution or

• Master's degree or higher in a discipline or subfield other than that in which he or she is teaching and has completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which he or she teaches.

Experience:

• Teaching and/or Training Experience: 1-3 years

• Industry Experience: 1-2 years

• Project Coordination Experience: 1-2 years

• Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.

• Proficiency in research, interpreting and analyzing diverse data; knowledge of how to enter, monitor, and interpret student data accurately.

• Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of rapid growth and change. Ability to work independently with minimal clerical support.

• Knowledgeable in use of Word and Excel (intermediate level).

• Understanding of the organization of public higher education systems.

• Familiarity with issues faced by community college students, especially in rural settings. Ability to relate to a diverse population.

• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Solid background in adult career and social advisement.

• Ability to analyze programs, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems, using independent judgment and decision-making processes. Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.

• Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators.

• Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail.

• Commitment to following all College policies and procedures.
