Human Services Counselor - Resettlement Program
(Project), Full Time (37.5 hours per week) - Monday through Friday, 12pm-8:30pm
This position will focus on assisting homeless individuals and families who are newly arriving to Maine and may be staying at various homeless shelters or overflow locations. The successful candidate will work to increase community supports and overall stabilization leading to permanent, safe and supportive housing. The chosen candidate in this position will assist with applications for housing subsidies, location and placement in permanent housing, client outreach and relationship building, development of housing resources, make referrals and follow up to ensure increased community support; including connections to health care, school and employment.
This position works closely with families and individuals from all different backgrounds to provide and connect them to community resources. Other job duties include: crisis intervention, referral for mental health services, referral for healthcare services, as well as fully participating as key members of the Resettlement team.
Requirements:
Experience with homeless or low income/at risk case management with a diverse population and excellent customer service skills.
Experience with housing placement of homeless or at risk populations, mental health issues, and other barriers to self-sufficiency preferred.
B.A. degree in Social Services or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Valid Maine Class C driver's license (please provide license number) and personal vehicle for work use.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, Protech (Grade 5) - Starting at $23.22/hr.
