Human Services faculty/instructors are part of the Social and Behavioral Pathway which houses 7-degree programs with varying designations and broadly serves the College elective courses. The successful candidate will be a will be a well-rounded educator who invests in teaching and learning support in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats and has a high interest to engage in collaboration with interdisciplinary programs and/or contribute to their course offerings based on area of expertise.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The instructor assignment primarily involves teaching introductory and upper-level human services courses and related courses via multiple modalities. This position is focused on teaching, internship support, and advising students with academic and career planning. Teaching may occur in person or online including nights and weekends and will have the option for additional summer teaching for additional pay. Instructors share a commitment to and exemplifies principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all work done within the department and as part of the college community as well as teach courses in their field by providing a high commitment to quality instruction and student supports.
This position reports to the Human Services Department Chair and works collaboratively with other discipline faculty and the Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences.In addition to conducting classes, the position includes class preparation, maintaining regular office hours for appointment/walk-ins, student evaluation, program level assessment. Attendance at department meetings and response to phone calls/emails from students and supervisor within two business days is required. Shares in leadership of the department, pathway, and college through participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development, scheduling and other matters. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
Primary teaching duties will be in Human Service as an academic science. Instructors will deliver instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the course syllabus; maintain grade and attendance records in a timely manner; recognize and respond appropriately to student diversity through equitable teaching learning practices; utilize clear learning goals and well-planned activities; being available to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment. Instructors must be committed to culturally responsive teaching and working effectively with a diverse student population that varies widely in college readiness. Additionally, instructors must be willing to engage students using a wide variety of modalities while teaching human services curriculum grounded in critical thinking, durable skills, and core values of respect, cultural competence, professional development, and ethical responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

A master's degree or higher in human services
Or any master's degree or higher with 18 graduate credit hours in any of these related degrees: human services, behavioral health/healthcare, or social work.
