Central State Hospital's Rehab Department is seeking an individual who possesses the motivation, positive attitude and the initiative to plan, implement and document weekend, holiday and evening leisure/special activities and active treatment groups during our day programming. The selected individual must be highly organized, flexible, and motivated in order to provide outstanding active treatment patient services.

The duties of the Human Service Care Specialist include, but are not limited to: planning and implementing active therapeutic treatment groups. Planning and providing evening, weekend and holiday leisure activities, documenting patient's attendance and progress in an established computer system, medical records and completion of statistical reports.

Must be able to work irregular hours and work weeks which include evenings, weekends and holidays: 11:00 to 7:48 pm with alternating weekends and adjusting off on Monday and Wednesday, and holidays as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The selected candidate must have experience working with the seriously mentally ill adult population, experience leading and implementing active treatment groups and leisure activities. The incumbent should have awareness of safety and security procedures.

The ability to work with others. Ability to manage aggressive/assaultive clients. Ability to co-facilitate therapeutic interventions while assisting facilitators in the learning process of the client. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent as well as a valid Virginia driver's license in order to drive/operate and escort clients by state cars, wheel chair equipped bus and 15 passenger van.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in computerized documentation and the ability to navigate the Internet is preferred. Experience in a maximum forensic setting is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of recovery and psycho-social rehabilitation is preferred.

As part of our professional team of clinicians, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of the patients in the dialysis center. If you haven't considered Healthcare before, read on as we think that you should. Healthcare Experience is NOT required. What you can expect: * 1:1 Patient Care. Spending the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment. Our PCTs care for up to 4 patients at a time. * Building long-term relationships with your patients who are suffering from end stage renal disease and are receiving treatment on average 3 times/week. * Team. Cross functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership. PCTs work under the supervision of a RN. * Technician Duties. To monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles. * Schedule. Shifts can begin as early as 4:45 am. Typically working 12 hour shifts, 3 days/week. Clinics are closed on Sundays, and may be open on some holidays.
