Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with human resource related duties while following location standards and procedures.

Conducts screening of applicants and addresses employment inquiries. Assists with the selection process; to include but not limited to scheduling and conducting interviews, timely completion of all correspondence and communication related to the selection process, including reference and criminal background checks, screen for conviction or pending charges of a criminal offense precluding in a healthcare facility, checking with licensing boards and/or registries and sending rejection letters.

Responsible for entering new employee information; completing audits, updates and ensuring all employee information is accurate at all times, including job descriptions and related forms relevant to positions. Assures employee history files and confidential employee medical history files are up to date and legally and confidentially maintained at all times. Assures all pre-employment and orientation paperwork is completed by employee start date.

Assists as necessary in writing and placing advertisements for new employees, places position openings on the GSS web site, with the local Job Service Office and recruitment sources for veterans and individuals with disabilities. May assist with recruitment efforts by representing the location at job fairs. Assists with exit interviews as requested and ensures termination and transfer paperwork is completed.

Assures all new employees are welcomed and receive the appropriate training before beginning work within their department. Conducts general orientation training, reviews the employee handbook, and assures required training is completed in the applicable timeframes. Administers employee surveys and oversees follow-up.

Coordinates celebrations and recognition of employees. Directs and communicates internal and external resources on a regular basis to staff. Demonstrates/encourages opportunities for carrying out mission.

Promote a quality work environment and responds to complaints. Accepts accountability for activities under direct control. Plans and organizes work with and for department.

Exercises sound judgment and decision-making. Promotes cooperative working relationships within and between departments. Keeps abreast of and implements new programs or practices.

Communicates appropriate and timely training opportunities. Receives and shares information. Assures employees receive accurate and current employment information. Communicates with staff to renew licensures on a timely basis.

Human Resources

  • Addresses employee concerns and directs employees to appropriate internal and external resources as needed and requested

  • Assists employees with benefits Assists department with recognition, recruitment and retention of staff\Maintains accurate confidential employee records

  • Assists with the selection process; interviews, reference and background checks

  • Ensures termination and transfer paperwork is completed

  • Monitors leaves of absences, refers LOA requests to appropriate director


  • Processes payroll for all employees using Kronos and Lawson programs

  • Accurately enters PTO, FMLA, No Pay and holiday hours bi-weekly

  • Works with Staffing Coordinator to ensure all punch edits are accurate

Staff Development & Training

  • Develops annual training calendar for all staff as required by GSS, federal and state mandated training topics/certification training. Notifies staff timely of scheduled training.

  • Ensures all mandatory online training is completed by staff

  • Tracks training in the LMS system.

  • Coordinate makeup training according to facility requirements

  • Monitors and reports to leadership team on annual compliance quarterly.

  • Assists employees in the Learning Center.

  • Conducts new employee orientation in the absence of the On-boarding Specialist


  • Backs up the facility Scheduling Coordinator using the On-shift program


Minimum of one-year human resources or related experience and/or a college degree in human resources or related field; prefer two year accounting degree or certificate.

Skill in typing, keying, filing, bookkeeping, and use of basic computer programs required. Must be able to communicate with a diverse employee and resident population; must be self-motivated, extremely organized and have good planning abilities.

Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations is highly desired.

Looking for Full Time, Monday-Friday 40 hours a week, excellent benefit package. Prefer someone with prior experience in Human Resources process, employee relations, recruitment, retention, training, scheduling and payroll.
