City of Midland Internships are 10 weeks long from June 1st - August 7th, unless otherwise specified by your supervisor.

We are looking for an HR Intern to perform various administrative tasks and support our HR department's daily activities.

If you're interested in kick-starting your career in HR and getting a closer look of how our city approaches payroll, recruiting and employee development, we'd like to meet you.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist in the construction and organization of City of Midland/ HR policies and procedures as well as job descriptions

  • Post, update and remove job ads from job boards, careers pages and social networks.

  • Participate in organizing company events and careers days.

  • Provide support during the new hire on-boarding process and assist with employee orientation

  • Gain a better understanding of payroll and benefits processes

  • Answer phone and greet employees with a friendly demeanor

  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related matters as needed

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Conditions: Ability to sit, stand, and move about an office department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with MS Office

  • Basic understanding of full-cycle recruiting

  • Integrity, discretion and ability to maintain confidential information

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of labor legislation

  • Organizational skills

  • Familiarity with HRIS is a plus

  • Experience as a Staff Assistant or similar junior HR role is a plus

We are seeking a Human Resource professional with the ability to handle diverse requests, think proactively and adapt to changing priorities. As a Human Resource Coordinator on this team, you will use your experience and skills to be an initial HR contact for the business facing HR team to coordinate HR tasks, processes, reports, and documentation with minimal supervision. Initiates contacts with managers and employees to furnish or obtain information necessary to complete responsibilities. * Answers questions to employees and managers to explain HR processes with access to highly complex/confidential information. * Partners with business facing HR teams to conduct investigations, address employee concerns, and coach managers. * Helps to organize, provide input, take minutes, and distribute information for departmental meetings. * Establishes and maintains files, reports, and other hard copy or computerized information related to departmental operations. Information may be highly confidential. * Coordinates and schedules travel and meeting arrangements. * Responds to employee inquiries about department or company programs, practices and procedures. Qualifications The following are required: What expertise have you grown?
