We are seeking a self-motivated individual with 2- 5 years of Human Resources experience.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Interviews and participates in the recruitment and selection of exempt, nonexempt, and hourly employees; determines applicant qualifications; conducts pre-employment testing, makes recommendations concerning offers of employment and audits performance of newly hired employees.

  • Conducts exit interviews with employees to determine the underlying reasons for leaving employment, employee attitudes toward the company, supervisor, etc.

  • Manages the technician salary/wage program. Participates in approved salary surveys affecting all non-exempt and hourly employees.

  • Administers Human Resources policies and procedures, advises/counsels plant management and employees regarding company policies and procedures.

  • Generates, maintains and provides reports as required.

  • Directs and aids in the preparation of all plant position descriptions. Provides preliminary evaluation of new or revised position descriptions according to plant and company guidelines.

  • Initiates and assists in the development and presentation of programs which support plant and company goals to include supervisory and employee development and promoting positive employee and positive labor relations.

  • Researches, advises, and assists in correction of employee behavior and disciplinary action.

  • Participates in meetings with the union, grievance handling, arbitrations and preparation for contract negotiations

  • Counsels employees, supervisors and managers on confidential matters.

  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with employees.

  • Coordinates plant projects as assigned or requested by the Human Resources Manager or Plant Manager.

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Labor Relations or related degree with applicable experience.

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Training and Recruiting preferred.

  • Strong leadership, facilitation, team building and process improvement skills.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Must be open to relocation for subsequent opportunities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Physical requirements Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Experience with HRIS systems such as PeopleSoft a plus.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of HES Manager with our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Taft, Louisiana. Essential Job Duties: * Maintain protection of the environment and the health, safety, and security of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. * Support, facilitate, plan, organize and implement Safety Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, and Emergency Response programs to ensure the safety, health, and security of employees and contractors. * Manages adequacy, reliability and testing of equipment related to the safety and security of the facility. * Work with plant leadership, personnel, and contract groups to correct and improve performance and practices as applicable. * Manages Safety and Security personnel and in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, coordinates the Medical/Industrial Hygiene responsibilities. * Manages safety process systems through leading and participation in planned inspections, job observations, near miss reporting, incident investigation, plant audits, and other programs as required. * Maintain regulatory compliance and continued quality in OxyChem Safety process systems. * Responsible for development and distribution of technical safety and health information, procedures, standards and bulletins, advancements, and/or improvements. * Liaison with Insurance carriers, State and Federal government inspectors, and representatives of professional safety and health organizations. * Provide appropriate HES&S leadership, counsel and coaching on HES&S related issues, define requirements, interpret regulations and procedures, and assist to define acceptable solutions. * Responsible for development, planning and implementation of Safety, Security, and Health Education programs for employees and management. * Participate and/or lead HES&S audits from OxyChem Corporate and regulatory personnel, and represents OxyChem at applicable community, and HES&S organizations and functions. * Responsible for the integration of OxyChem safety process systems and quality guidelines. * Site Administrator for the Respiratory Protection Program. * Manages the development, implementation, and measuring of plant HES&S, contractor safety, fire protection, emergency response and services, procedures, practices, projects, and record keeping complying with all applicable codes, standards, and acceptable practices. * Assist in special program efforts such as the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, and other regulatory or company programs and processes. * Chemical industry training experience strongly preferred. * Bachelor's degree is required * Internal consulting and coaching experience helpful; strong influencing skills. * Teaching/training facilitation experience to include instructional design and course development. * Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. * Excellent project management skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a bottom-line driven, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects with ever-changing priorities and deadlines. * A minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in the Chemical industry.
