We are recruiting for a Human Resources Specialist to join our Human Resources Department in Louisville, KY.


Responsible for handling special employee programs. Responds to policy and procedure related inquiries from employees and leaders via phone and email regarding assigned programs. Reviews all documentation submitted and determines participation/request eligibility within policy guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as subject matter expert for Professional Choice Account (PCA) program policies and procedures

  • Reviews all requests to determine participation eligibility as outlined in the PCA program policy; request additional or missing information as needed; notify requester of final decision

  • Escalates PCA request issues to the appropriate leader/department as needed

  • Collaborates with leadership on policy and procedure changes

  • Updates employee reference documents as needed (FAQ, Reimbursement Request Form, Policy)

  • Works with Payroll to resolve issues and ensure program benefits are paid to the employee timely and accurately

  • Tracks all incoming requests and provide status reports as requested

  • Prepares detailed monthly, quarterly and annual reports on program usage to include payments and denials for senior leaders

  • Enters approved requests into SAP record for payment

  • Manages and stores PCA documentation received according to document retention guidelines

  • Participates in information sharing with co-workers; identifies trends and passes recommendations for improvement to the supervisor

  • Interfaces with employees and management in a courteous and professional manner and provides general assistance regarding Kindred policies and procedures

  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and processes

  • Attends and participates in department meetings

  • Performs other duties as assigned/needed


  • Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail and customer focus.

  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet work objectives

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, word-processing and spreadsheet software, HRIS, Internet

  • High degree of emotional intelligence

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills which include the ability to effectively communicate in a courteous manner with staff, co-workers, leadership, vendors and internal and external customers.

  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously; set priorities and plan work to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work with a team to create effective departmental strategies and meet department goals.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Some college required; degree preferred


  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an employee data processing or quality role in human resources or a combination.

  • Applied knowledge of employee record maintenance in HRIS (SAP), customer service and payroll processes and practices is preferred.

Depending on a candidate's qualifications, this position may be filled at a different level.
