Job Description
Under general supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Senior HR Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating and delivering advanced training programs with a primary focus on management-level employees. The Senior HR Trainer will also facilitate the City's mentoring program. Work requires tact, diplomacy and advanced skills and knowledge in employee training.
Job Responsibilities
1.Conducts training needs assessments, prepares training plans and conducts trainings.
2.Researches and implements effective approaches and learning principles to employee training.
3.Develops training programs, curriculum, course material, and handouts for employee training sessions focused on management and leadership skills using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
4.Coordinates, facilitates and prepares content for the mentoring and leadership development programs.
5.Coordinates specialized training sessions with outside speakers as requested by City management or by the Human Resources Director.
6.Provides recommendations to the HR Director on new and existing training programs.
7.Monitors and tracks employee participation.
8.Maintains statistical data on training hours and employee participation.
9.Assists with conducting the new employee orientation program, onboarding new employees and conducting prevention of harassment training as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements - 1. Job requires a Bachelor's Degree in communications, human resource management, education, business, public administration or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
2.Job requires a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience in employee training. Experience with conducting training to management-level employees preferred.
3.Job requires a valid Texas Class C driver's license.
4.Must be knowledgeable and capable of using computer, software and audio/visual equipment.
5.Must possess strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and enjoy teaching others.
6.Ability to teach adults in an engaging manner and willingness to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
7.Job requires strong professionalism and ability to communicate in courteous manner, using tact and diplomacy.
Physical Requirements
1.Normal working conditions include working in an office environment with medium overall strength demands and standing to a significant degree during training.
2.Employee must perform multi-tasking and works closely with others on a frequent basis and occasionally works with time pressures.
Additional Information
1.This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2.This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
3.Assists with other related assignments as needed.
4.Responsibilities may include working irregular schedules such as evening and/or weekend hours on an occasional basis.
