Human Resources Relations Specialist- Jackson, TN

Kelly Services is currently looking for a Human Resources Generalist to work on site for Bodine Toyota located in Jackson, Tennessee.

Responsibilities Include:

  • HR duties Answer and direct phone calls

  • Investigations, internal interviews, conducting morale activities and engaging with plant managers.

  • Organize and schedule appointments

  • Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms

  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports

  • Develop and maintain a filing system

  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures

Job Requirements:

  • Strong People skills, problem solving skills and self driven

  • HR experience in Manufacturing Environment

  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines

  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)

  • Peoplesoft and WorkDay (a plus!)

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelors Degree (Business or HR)

PAY: $19-24/hr range

SHIFT: M-F, 7a-3:30p (1/2 hr lunch) or 7a-4p (hour lunch)

General Summary: Lead plant HR staff in performing a variety of complex and routine administrative, technical, and professional HR functions including policies, programs, and procedures to ensure stable team member relations, productive work environment, and company goals and objectives. Supervise and administer (by means of proactive planning, action, and maintenance), directly or indirectly, the Human Resources functions for the plant in assigned area(s) of Benefits, Compensation, Employment/Recruitment, HRIS, Payroll, Staffing, and Team Member Relations. May provide leadership and support assistance to Safety, Security, and Training functions. Develops an audit process and conducts audits on a regular basis of the Human Resources activities to ensure a work environment which will be the most productive and which will not cause team members to seek third-party intervention. II. Essential Job Functions: A. Provide direction and motivation to HR staff focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and morale. 1. Direct the work of HR staff by assigning/re-assigning projects and areas of responsibility. 2. Develop and maintains positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony. 3. Ensure further development of HR staff through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, and cascade training. 4. Coordinate and monitor work of direct reports for maintaining records consisting of attendance, Paid Time Off (PTO), benefits, FMLA, wages, etc. B. Direct, guide, and maintain positive team member relations functions consisting of team member involvement meetings, safety meetings, interaction with team members, conflict resolution, and corrective action. 1. Serve as a salaried team member advocate in conflict or corrective action situations to ensure fair and consistent treatment. 2. Coach, guide, and mentor members of management on team member relations matters including performance management, attendance, team member issues and concerns, etc. 3. Lead resolution and/or referral of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries, as well as investigation of team member complaints or issues initiated by management or team members. 4. Research and investigate compliance issues regarding workers' compensation injuries and claims, attendance, corrective actions, harassment, etc. 5. Support facilitation of performance management, coaching, and corrective action situations. 6. Conduct periodic audits of human resources and team member relations to identify actions and countermeasures that will ensure a positive team member relations climate and will not cause team members to seek third-party intervention. C. Ensure that TBA, Company, and HR policies, practices, and procedures are properly and consistently administered and lead to fair and consistent treatment of team members. 1. Initiate and manage policy administration and legal compliance. 2. Lead policy/procedure communication, guidance, and related education activities to ensure HR policies, practices, and procedures are understood and consistently applied. 3. Assist and/or coordinate development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and practices. D. Lead and assist HR Staff in administration of compensation and benefit programs and other team member services (e.g., voluntary purchase discount programs, company uniforms, etc.) that support Company philosophy, profitability, and success. E. Lead in the maintenance and management of specialized human resource information and measurement/reporting systems. 1. Plan and monitor to meet plant headcount requirements. 2. Perform specialized technical tasks, such as benchmark evaluation, technical research, and labor trend analysis. 3. Prepare reports, graphs, charts, and statistical analyses, and participate in presenting reports and proposals to senior management. 4. Direct and support HR staff in tracking, management, and month end reporting of direct/indirect headcount, overtime, attendance, turnover, leaves of absence, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, safety incidents, and other HR Key Performance Indicators (KPI), etc. F. Support team member communication, involvement, and recognition activities including service awards, all-team member events, business review communication meetings, etc. 1. Plan and execute team member and team building activities to help promote a positive work environment and effectively raise team member morale such as holiday activities, plant luncheons, environmental activities, etc. 2. Lead and assist with planning, organizing, and executing team member internal communications, bulletin board postings, two-way communications, and feedback systems including monthly plant communication meetings, roundtable meetings, suggestion programs, and opinion surveys. 3. Audit to ensure labor, employment, and safety postings meet regulatory compliance. 4. Administer service award and other recognition programs. G. Provide leadership and assistance to employment and recruitment processes for filling hourly and salaried positions with internal and external personnel due to attrition, promotions, and transfers. 1. Support development and execution of recruiting strategy with hiring managers. 2. Participate in or support all functions pertaining to hiring and placement for approved positions and promotions consisting of job posting, advertising, interviewing, selection, and orientation. 3. Collaborate with hiring manager(s) in their decision-making regarding entire hiring process and approve/recommend final decisions. 4. Monitor critical pre- and post-employment processes including job offers, background checks, candidate notifications, and new hire orientation preparation and support. 5. Evaluate recruiting and interviewing processes and makes recommendations for continuous improvement. 6. Support, coordinate, and/or facilitate orientation and assimilation programs for new hires. H. Coordinate employment and administration of temporary team members. 1. Coordinate temporary contractor service. 2. Maintain employment related information in regard to temporary team members. 3. Arrange hire of temporary team members and collaborate with manufacturing for placement of temporary workers. I. Provide support and assistance with Safety, Security, and Training functions and activities. 1. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, PPE requirements, and company safety policies and procedures. 2. Investigate safety incidents, implement countermeasures, and submit 24 hour incident reports as required. 3. Monitor safety and health of team members to ensure their well-being. 4. Complete required workers' compensation documents. 5. Work with team members on work-related injury/illness leaves or modified duty until returning to full duty. 6. Ensure safety records (e.g., OSHA 300 and 300-A logs) are maintained, kept up-to-date, and meet regulatory compliance standards. 7. Lead in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a safe, secure work environment for team members. 8. Complete or support required training (e.g., TB Way, code of conduct, hazard communication, job skills, etc.). 9. Ensure the tracking and maintenance of training records. J. Plan, direct, and support community and public relations efforts and activities. III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Education: * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. * PHR or SPHR designation preferred. Experience: * Greater than six (6) years of relevant human resources generalist experience. Manufacturing setting experience preferred. * Greater than two (2) years leadership experience as supervisor in a manufacturing environment. * Previous experience in creating presentations and delivering to large groups. Oracle, Halogen, and Kronos experience preferred. IV. Work Environment/Conditions: Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply. Travel: Must be willing to travel 0-10% of the time. V. Physical Demands: Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.
