  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related or equivalent experience

  • 4-6 years' experience in the Human Resources working with mid-level leaders

  • Strong background in employee relations a plus

VIEW JOBS 10/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-08T00:00 Job Summary Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an experienced HR Specialist to serve as a resource, assist, and train Teammates in company best practices, policy and procedure, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, terminations, benefits, HRIS, and legal compliance for our Wholesale Region. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Provide guidance and assistance to profit centers and operations departments in regard to Human Resources functions including but not limited to hiring, employee relations, performance, and terminations. Serve as a resource regarding employment law issues (FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA, EEOC, HIPPA, etc.). * Communicates directly with teammates at all levels of the Profit Center to assist with the HR questions, concerns, and needs. * Assist with successful resolution of employee relations matters. Provide guidance for investigating allegations related to ethical concerns or complaints. May be required to conduct investigations or when appropriate, escalate to Director level. * Communicate with the Profit Centers' leadership and teammates needing or requesting a leave of any type. Provide information and instruction for initiation and tracking of all types of leaves and short-term disability cases. * Conduct training for the profit centers to assist in developing team leaders and teammates (supervisory skills, interviewing, performance management and appraisals, team building, non-harassment etc.) * Work with Profit Centers to create and maintain Job Descriptions * Conduct new employee orientations, in person or via teleconference. * Stay abreast of relevant state employment laws and communicate pertinent information to the Profit Centers * Facilitate communication between the Profit Centers and the Workers' Compensation carrier, reporting claims to the insurance company and the Regional Director. * Pursue a course of personal, professional development Required Skills – Bachelor's degree from a four year college, or university in Human Resources or closely related discipline required. – 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resource Generalist required; or equivalent combination of education and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. – PHR or SPHR certification required. If not certified at time of hire, certification must be attained within first year of position. – Knowledge of employment practices at the federal and state levels in a multi-state environment. – Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail.
