Human Resources Manager

Basic Purpose of Position: The Manager, Human Resources is responsible for providing direction of Human Resources across a business unit location. This role works closely with the facility leader and facility management team to advise and administer programs and policy around human capital issues. This position also provides support in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, safety, legal protection and compliance, and employee programs & services for the business location. This role contributes to the implementation of human resources policies, procedures and practices to support the Company.
Primary or Major Responsibilities:
Provide business leadership to facility Human Resources function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, retention, training and development, hourly compensation and benefits administration, and policy within a company location.
Coach, counsel, mentor, and other employee relations activities for employees and management including employee complaints and conflict resolution.
Provide management to human resources staff. Ensure HR team is linked into broader companywide HR organizational structure.
Create awareness of human resources policies, programs, and practices to keep facility management team informed of new developments in human capital laws and compliance that may jeopardize the achievement of business plan objectives.
Lead hourly wage structures, pay policies, and performance management programs.
Lead the facility's recruitment, selection, orientation and training efforts surrounding potential candidates, newly hired employees, and current employees.
Ensure local HR legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the Human Resources function are met; ensure that all locations are in, and maintain, compliance with all applicable State, Provincial and Federal laws which govern or apply to human resource related matters; protect interests of employees and the company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Support facility level annual budgeting and key initiatives development.
Provide administration in the oversight responsibility for workers compensation/safety and HR systems effectiveness.
Lead employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.
Maintain responsibility for the planning and completion of other special projects relating to this position as directed by the Site Leader and Head of Human Resources.
Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.
5-10 years of human resources and business management experience within a manufacturing environment; previous management experience preferred.
BS/BA degree in Business or Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, related business degree, or equivalent work experience is required. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is required.
MBA or related graduate degree and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) accreditation are preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; an ability to function in a collaborative environment and matrix reporting structure; employee advocate balance; integrity and intelligence; decisive with good judgment; conceptual thinking, influence through commitment and persuasion; and an ability to generate trust and build alliances across the business location.
Ability to work in a fast paced and entrepreneurial performance based environment.
