POSITION OVERVIEW: The Human Resources Manager is the primary HR leader and essential part of the organization’s management team.
This role will direct all facets of the Human Resources function, including associate relations, staffing, compliance, compensation and benefits administration, leadership advisement, and employee development, ensuring support of the company’s objectives and values. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Guidance and Planning : Offer strategic guidance, leadership, and oversight for the HR team, ensuring accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.
Service and Regulations : Focus on delivering exceptional service, adhering to regulations, and streamlining processes. Workplace Relations : Work with the leadership team to address employee relations issues, develop coaching methods, and manage conflict resolution. Performance Management : Counsel leaders on disciplinary procedures, ensure fair treatment, and assist with hiring and termination decisions.
Policy Creation : Formulate HR policies, update the company handbook, and address related queries. Performance Reviews : Conduct performance assessments, advise on evaluation timelines, and follow up on overdue or inconsistent reviews. Communication and Coordination : Ensure effective communication channels and facilitate Best Practices team meetings.
Recruitment and Training : Develop strategic recruitment plans and training programs, apply for grants, and ensure legal compliance in hiring processes. Employee Involvement : Organize employee engagement initiatives. Compensation Management : Update compensation structures, ensure job descriptions are accurate and compliant, conduct salary surveys, and analyze compensation to retain top talent.
Benefits Management : Oversee benefits administration, reassess policies for cost-effectiveness, design wellness programs, and ensure compliance with legislation and ACA reporting. Organizational Structure : Maintain organizational charts and employee directory. Strategic Partnership : Collaborate with management to align HR objectives with business goals.
Retention Plans : Develop and implement strategies to retain employees. Leave Management : Oversee all Leave of Absence and FMLA administration. Record Keeping and Reporting : Maintain all necessary HR documents, records, and reports, including unemployment, insurance reports, Workers’ Compensation, OSHA log, EEO reports, salary surveys, and change notices.
Grant Applications : Manage the application process for state grants. Ethical Compliance : Follow the Company Code of Ethics and comply with local, state, and federal employment laws. Safety Assistance : Support the Health, Safety and Environmental Leader on safety-related matters.
Training and Development : Assist in training and development for all levels within the organization. Supervision : Provide supervision to 2 full-time HR associates. BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS: 5-7 years of HR leadership experience in smaller to mid-sized organizations (125 – 150 employees) Manufacturing plant-level HR experience is required.
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or a related program is required. MS Office skills required. Paycor HRIS experience preferred.
HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred. Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Saginaw, Michigan. COMPENSATION: The compensation for this role is in the high five to low six-figure range for well-qualified candidates, depending on experience. RELOCATION: While local candidates are preferred, consideration will be given to relocation assistance for those who reside out of the area.
