We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join the Valley Forge PA manufacturing plant. As a part of the local leadership team, you will serve as a strategic HR business partner regarding all aspects of the plant's operations. The plant has 183 employees, of which 157 are hourly production workers. The Steelworkers Union represents 139 of these, and 18 are non-union workers in maintenance and quality control functions.
Ideal candidates will have previous human resources supervisory experience in a union environment and possess ability to effectively provide thought leadership to stakeholders at all levels in the organization. Demonstrated prior experience and knowledge in applying employment principles around the ADA, FMLA and how both laws interact to affect solutions to employee relations questions is a must have for success in this role.
Areas of responsibility include:
Driving culture initiatives that focus on increasing employee engagement at all levels in the facility.
Developing and implementing comprehensive development plans to support succession planning and bench strength.
Developing comprehensive workforce planning strategies to support staffing and recruiting objectives for the hourly employee population.
Promoting a strong relationship with community partners with a targeted goal of becoming an Employer of Choice.
Providing employee relations counseling and problem solving for managers and employees to ensure a productive work environment, remaining consistent with company values and policies and in adherence to state and federal regulatory law.
Counseling, advising, and training management on performance-based issues including corrective action plans, terminations, and severance agreements.
Investigating and resolving employee grievances--maintain labor relations.
Translate strategic HR vision into actionable activities within the plant.
Thorough knowledge of the union contract and local supplement and wage practices
Set bargaining agenda on behalf of the plant consistent with operations input and experience with current contract
Required Skills & Experiences:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources/related field required.
Demonstrated knowledge/experience of federal and state employment laws and other government compliance regulations. (ADA, FMLA, USERRA, Work comp; Title VII, ADEA and laws affecting transgender and LBGT communities)
Knowledge of how to implement recruiting strategies tied to engagement and retention
Preferred Skills & Experiences:
PHR or SPHR certification preferred
OSHA certification/Safety Management experience preferred
Experience in continuous improvement such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5s. Kaizen preferred.
