Human Resources Intern/Extern (Paid)

Location:VEGquarters, Valhalla, NY + REMOTE

Reports to: Regional Director, HR

Part-Time/Non-Exempt

FOCUS

The Human Resources internship will give you the opportunity to channel your HR drive and enthusiasm while learning all things HR. You will complete hands-on, meaningful day to day tasks, as well as, projects to support a variety of HR + Company initiatives. The Human Resources Internship is designed to be both educational and practical. During this period, the intern will take knowledge learned in an academic setting and apply it to day to day HR operations.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO

  • Assist HR with the onboarding/offboarding process
  • Assist in the Talent Acquisition process
  • Assist in HR, Culture + Educational initiatives as assigned
  • Complete individual projects related to VEGs needs + personal HR interest
  • Make recommendations for innovative solutions to pain points

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Currently an HR or related major at the collegiate level undergrad/grad
  • Familiarity with HR Information Systems, ATS + Payroll applications (PayCom) a+
  • Academic knowledge of benefits programs including: medical + 401k plans
  • Academic knowledge of state, local + federal employment/labor law
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task maintaining confidentiality a must
  • Ability to travel as needed for initiatives, challenges, recruitment and openings to name a few (majority is domestic travel within the region)
  • Energetic, motivated, passionate self-starter
  • Loves animals and caring for them

The HR Assistant supports the Regional HR Director to carry out the on-boarding, employee orientation and compliance of all personnel. Responsibilities * Fields HR inquiries from office and field staff. * Responsible to ensure that new care members have passed all new hire compliance requirements and all necessary documentation has been received by the Talent Acquisition Coordinator, including, certification/licensure, two references, evaluation test, CHRC consent; assists with the completion of all pre-employment medical. * Prepares materials and assists in facilitation of new hire orientation. * Responsible for entering all employee information into the HHA Exchange system. * Assists with the submission and termination of care members in the Department of Health's Health Commerce System's Home Care Registry and Criminal History Record Check systems. * Maintains employee file via smart search and hard-copy files for regulatory surveys. * Collects compliance items, updates HHA Exchange accordingly and provides follow-up communication where necessary. * Maintains and communicates E-learning credentials with staff and ensures compliance of e-learning requirements. * Processes employee verification requests. * Maintains confidentiality of organizational and care member information. * All other duties as assigned. * Maintains a friendly working atmosphere. Qualifications * High School diploma or equivalent * Bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. * 2 years office experience. * 2 years of HR support experience preferred * Experience with managing data and use of human resources information systems preferred. * Must be able to work out of the corporate NYC office 2 days out of the week * Ability to perform work requiring a high level of detail. * Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and provide appropriate follow-up.
