The Human Resources (HR) Intern will support the North America HR Operations team across a variety of specialty and generalist functions within HR, including Strategic Projects, Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, and Compliance. This position will report to the HR Operations & Project Manager and will also provide support to the Regional HR Managers, the Talent Acquisition Team, and the Compensation and Compliance Manager.


  • Participates in corporate or regional special projects that may involve program management, recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, policies, compliance, etc.

  • Assists with policy creation, benchmarking, and review

  • Supports and recommends HR process improvements to reach department and company strategic goals

  • Supports implementation and administration of Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements within HR systems and processes

  • Ensures compliance with all federal and local labor laws across a variety of initiatives

  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets and reporting tools in support of assigned projects

  • Communicates regularly with HR management partners to provide process recommendations, project updates, and information requests

  • Assists in organizing and coordinating local college/university career fairs in support of the Internship Program

  • Assists in improving and standardizing the onboarding experience for new employees

  • Creates and delivers end-of-internship presentation to Senior Management team

  • Performs related and/or additional job duties as required


  • Currently pursuing bachelor's degree in a Business, Human Resources, or a related field with a junior or senior status




  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of information

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in the handling of confidential information

To encourage networking, relationship building and organizational learning, we will host a number of internship events over the course of the program including, but not limited to educational roundtables, plant tours and philanthropic activities. Interns will also have the opportunity to interact with and present to Greif's Executive Leadership Team. Total Rewards is part of the Human Resource Function at Greif. It is comprised of the Benefits, Payroll, and Compensation departments. This position will work primarily on the compensation side and assists in the development of the company's total rewards strategy and implementation of total rewards offerings globally. Executes assigned projects. Accountable for our weekly measurable results. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES * Create inventory of all variable pay plans throughout Greif Organization globally * Assist Total Rewards Team with Ad-Hoc assignments from ELT, HRBPs, Finance Department, and Comp Committee * Assist with Greif Global Grading Project * Familiarize oneself with both Short Term and Long Term variable pay plans to understand how employee rewards are measures, calculated, and distributed. * Perform other duties as assign EDUCATION * This position is for any student pursuing bachelor's degree in a related field with a junior or senior status.
