Human Resources Intern

Overview

Dexter, the premier manufacturer and supplier of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets has an opportunity for a Human Resources Intern at our manufacturing HQ offices located in Elkhart, Indiana.

Dexter offers excellent hands-on opportunities for students to learn quality work and projects alongside our team of professionals. This is ideally a year-round position, but we may consider Summer or Co-op.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Intern is responsible for assisting the Dexter HR Team with projects and routine HR Administration including but not limited to assisting with recruitment, employer branding, communications, training, and maintaining HR data.

More specifically, this position will be responsible for activities including:

• Assists with revisions to policies and building out procedure documents

• Supports annual compensation processes

• Aids in pre-employment processes and facilitates the onboarding of new hires

• Contributes to training efforts, including design and development of Learning and Development courses

• Assists with HR Data entry in ADP (HRIS platform) and PRISM (performance management system)

• Organizes, digitized, and audits employee files for compliance

• Assists with creation of benefits communications and open enrollment planning

• Writes and revises job descriptions and job ads

• Supports recruiting activities including use of Handshake or career fairs

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Strong computer skills

• Administrative experience with great attention to detail

• Excellent sense of ethics and accountability

• Enthusiasm and a passion for people and employee engagement

• Clear, professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to deliver small group presentations

• Ability to maintain professionalism and possess strict confidentiality of company, employee and applicant information.

• Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

• Ability to adapt to frequent priorities and changes within the team and the business

Education Qualifications:

High School Diploma required. Must be a current college student actively attending an accredited University in a related Major program of study such as Human resources, Business or Communications major.
