VIEW JOBS 11/7/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-05T00:00 GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Manager of HR Operations leads a professional team providing payroll, benefits, employee relations and leave of absence administration. The incumbent recommends, communicates and executes strategies to maintain market leading benefits and timely and accurate payroll administration. Oversees employee relations issues and works with HR partners to address trends. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development. * Develops and executes short-term and long-term strategies for competitive employee benefits, including 401k, ESOP, health/dental/vision, flexible spending, life/disability, leave programs, EAP, and employee annuity. * Oversees payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payroll. * Administers benefits including annual open enrollment and employee education. * Oversees leave of absence, FMLA and disability programs. * Ensures employee relations issues are addressed in a way that balances employee, employer and legal/policy perspectives. * Evaluates, selects, and oversees payroll, benefits and employee relations related vendors, consultants, brokers and advisors; negotiates contracts with guidance from Legal. * Collaborates with Finance and Accounting to prepare payroll and benefits analysis and project expenses. * Sets company policy and practice, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. * Provides reporting that monitors and measures the effectiveness of programs. * Provides dashboard and recommendations to senior executive management for ongoing discussion and awareness. * Assists with development of HR department strategic plans. * Identifies and addresses opportunities for improving HR processes. * Files 5500's that are not filed by Third Party Administrators. * Files EEO-1 regulatory form timely. * Performs other related work as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Reports: Small team of paraprofessional and professional staff engaged in benefits, payroll and employee relations work. General Description of Indirect Reports (2 and 3-downs): None EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resource management, or related field of study; plus ten (10) years of progressively responsible payroll and benefits experience, including five (5) years in a leadership role; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Payroll Specialist (CPP) beneficial. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Demonstrated success developing differentiated and effective benefits strategies that maximize employee attraction and retention while controlling company and employee cost. * Proven ability to diagnose complex issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills, and drive appropriate solutions. * Exceptional customer service orientation including ability to relate to, influence, consult with and coach all levels in the organization * Strong project management and execution skills. * Track record of success in coaching and developing staff to high performance. * Proven ability to use data to drive decision making and develop solutions. * Excellent attention to mathematical and other detail. * Ability to manage multiple priorities. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties. * Strong organizational and planning skills. * Proficient in the use of MicroSoft Office Suite. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. ____ This description covers the major purpose and essential functions of the job.
