SUMMARY:

The Aviation Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for partnering with business leaders for all people related aspects This role will serve as a subject matter expert for employee relations issues including performance management, employment policies, compliance, workplace issues and investigations and positive employee engagement. The HR Generalist self manages low to moderate risk cases on a variety of ER topics including but not limited to company Human Resources policies, attendance, performance, and conflict resolution.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the organization is complaint with all federal, state, local, and federal contractor employment laws and requirements.

  • Advise/ recommend on human resource policies and programs to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives and prevent or mitigate violations of legal guidelines and internal policies and procedures.

  • Assist with the development, updating, implementation and communication of human resources policies to employees on procedures, and programs related to new hire onboarding and assimilation, equal employment opportunity, employee counseling and performance improvement plans, separations.

  • Lead investigations of discrimination, harassment, and other employment violations.

  • Identify and assist with the implementation of human resources best practices suitable for the organization.

  • Provides guidance and recommendations to employees and leaders on human resources policies as well as conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.

  • Develop and conduct employee exit interviews, identifying major trends and underlying employee relations issues.

  • Function as the first point of contact for all HR transactional matters; interacting daily with employees at various levels within the organization.

  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of policies and procedures such as benefits, payroll, HRIS, and compensation.

  • Contribute to the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Serves as an employee and manager advocate and is hands on with employee relations including training and counsel.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4+ year of relevant/technical work experience OR

  • An additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Remain calm and productive under pressure, customer-focused and able to foster productive relationships.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Effective time management, able to identify and prioritize tasks necessary to meet long and short-term objectives.

  • Fluent in English

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Team player mindset

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

  • Ability to travel to various VSE Aviation sites as needed.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's Degree

  • 5+ years of Human Resources Generalist Experience

  • Experience in aerospace related industry

  • Experience with FAA/DOT drug and Alcohol programs for covered roles

  • Fluent in Spanish

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
