Since inception, UnitX has shipped 500+ mission-critical systems across 61 of the world's leading manufacturers' production lines. Every year, $2.8B dollar worth of products (think EV batteries) go through UnitX AI inspection system to ensure quality.

We are looking for our first HR hire to join our fast growing team to support our next phase of hypergrowth following our recent $46M Series B. We need someone who has built our the HR function from the ground up and is looking for their next challenge.

Job requirements

What You'll Do:

• Conduct regular market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.

• Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Administer benefits programs, including health, retirement, life insurance, etc., and act as a liaison between employees and insurance providers.

• Build career ladder and frameworks from scratch.

• Design and implement an engaging onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.

• Coordinate with departmental managers to customize onboarding plans and training according to specific job roles.

• Ownership of documentation ramp up and job descriptions.

• Serve as the point of contact for employee queries and concerns, fostering a positive relationship between staff and management.

• Address and resolve workplace issues, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.

• Promote a culture based on our values. Also fostering an environment of feedback and open communication, facilitating regular employee engagement and satisfaction surveys.

• Help facilitate a strong company culture as well as providing recognition to employees in the form of anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, and performance recognition

• Help with planning company events when needed

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and implement required changes to keep policies and practices up to date.

• Maintain meticulous records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.

• Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

• Manage HR projects (e.g., job fairs, training programs, learning and development).

• Partner with our Immigration Law firm to run immigration documentation (Visa, PERM processes, etc.)

Who You Are:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role (5+ years preferred), ideally in a tech or start-up environment building from 0 - 1.

• Deep understanding of California labor laws and regulatory compliance.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Proficient in HRIS systems (Rippling preferred) and Google Workspace.
