  • This role is responsible for HR partnership supporting the Marketing, IT, Finance, Legal, Engineering and Sustainability functions globally. This role will focus on North America based employees for these groups and be a business partner providing guidance and counsel on employee relations, performance management, training, and HR compliance. This role partners with HR colleagues globally to provide a comprehensive picture to leaders of these groups.

  • This role will also play a large part in the Center of Excellence for HR Compliance helping to draft policies, implement, and own the governance of these items.


  • Develop a high level of business knowledge and strong partnership with employees and managers.

  • Provide strong customer service regarding employee related matters.

  • Manage employee relations proactively by recommending employee relations practices to establish and maintain a positive employer employee relationship.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to be highly involved in the recruitment process for open roles including interviewing, sourcing strategy development and onboarding.

  • Facilitate the annual performance management process to include goal setting, mid-year check-ins, annual appraisals, and compensation planning.

  • Support the organization on employee development to include training, development plans, and career pathing.

  • Partner with Compensation to ensure market competitiveness and support global mobility.

  • Facilitate, with external partner, work authorization requirements including visa transfers and perms per business need.

  • Facilitate timely communicate to the organization regarding organizational changes, staff changes, and other important topics.

  • Support the Compliance Center of Excellence including process development and audit.

  • Lead projects related to process improvement.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources

  • 1 - 3 years of Human Resources experience; generalist experience desired

  • Exposure to some or all of the main HR disciplines including talent acquisition, performance management, organizational development, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and employee relations

  • Strong business acumen, ability to build strong relationships with internal customers

  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and Local legislation regarding employment and labor laws

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with policies, handbooks and other compliance areas desired

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred

There is currently one exempt vacancy to be filled in the Business Partner Solutions Division of Human Resources, supporting the Minneapolis Police Department. The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) acts as a strategic business partner and change agent in advising management in designated business units on aligning business objectives with employee and management goals. The HRG serves as consultant to management and seeks to develop integrated solutions on human resources-related issues. Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Consult with business unit leaders and provide day-to-day guidance on a variety of HR-related issues: business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, career development, training needs, policy interpretation, and recruiting and selection. * Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations. * Represent management on labor relations negotiating teams. * Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and improve productivity and retention while considering inclusiveness of all. Act as the performance improvement driver to provoke position changes in people management. * Provide high level of availability and personalized service by acquiring a keen understanding of the customer's business and operation needs. * Analyze and present data, trends and metrics to drive business decisions and develop solutions. * Work with training professionals (in-house or outsourced) to develop targeted and valid training programs. * Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends. * Recruit, lead, manage, train, supervise, review performance, recognize and develop direct reports to achieve established objectives. * Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements. * Guide department leaders to reach organization equity goals while maintaining a work environment that respects and supports cultural agility. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office setting with exposure to computers. Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in a business-related field. Human Resources emphasis is strongly preferred. Experience: Four years of experience in the resolution of complex employee relations issues. Experience must include a working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including: compensation, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, interpersonal communication, classification, conflict resolution, federal and state employment laws. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and highly related experience in a similar environment may be considered. Resume: A resume is required and must be attached to your application. Background Check: The City has determined that a thorough Minneapolis Police Department criminal background check is necessary for this position.
