Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is seeking an HR Generalist to join the Human Resources team. The Human Resources Department at SBVCC is committed to providing excellent services to internal and external customers by ensuring consistent and fair application of policies and procedures of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Department of Veterans Services and Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center.

This position will perform as an HR Generalist and will conduct daily HR activities, including but not limited to: recruitment & selection; benefits administration; compensation management; employee relations; policy interpretation; management consultations; worker's compensation claims; short term disability administration (VSDP); leave processing; facilitating orientation; data entry; background screening and employment verifications. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment while also being self-motivated and taking initiative. Excellent customer service, multi-tasking and maintaining confidentiality are crucial in this role.

This position will work Monday through Friday. All employees are designated as essential at SBVCC and will be expected to report to work as scheduled even when other state offices are closed or on delay (e.g. inclement weather, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

Experience handling a voluminous workload with the ability to multi-task Experience working in Human Resources with considerable knowledge of HR principles and practices including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, job analysis, HR training and HRIS, FLSA rules and regulations Demonstrated ability to analyze data and reach conclusions, which are logical and legally supportable Demonstrated proficiency with web based applications, Microsoft Office Suite and comprehensive software programs

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia state systems (PMIS, RMS, BES, VNAV, CIPPS) preferred. Experience with Kronos administration desired. Previous experience working in a 24-hour healthcare setting preferred.

Special Requirements

Successful completion of criminal history check, FBI fingerprint-based background check, reference and employment verifications and pre-employment drug screening are required. TB skin test will be performed upon hire. All employees of the facility are considered essential and are required to report to work when scheduled, even when other state offices are closed for emergencies or weather conditions.
