Job Overview: This position is the primary point of contact for employee engagement and development activities, facilitating employee integration and connection. In this capacity this position is responsible for assessing organizational culture and employee satisfaction, reporting assessment findings, proposing data driven activities to achieve agency strategic plans related to employee engagement and organizational culture. The position coordinates communication to employees and managers about salient agency topics (weekly newsletter) and implementing agency wide programming to enhance the working environment and strengthen employee connectivity. This position performs a wide variety of human resources work and is responsible for providing human resource expertise to a variety of stakeholders on personnel policies and procedures. This position plays an important role in developing and executing office safety plans.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):

Required for the first day of work:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interface with employees and managers in both positive and challenging situations.

  • Ability learn and quickly utilize enterprise-wide HR systems is necessary. Knowledge of Peoplesoft HRIS (SABHRS) is desired, but not required. Proficient in using Adobe and Microsoft Office software suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs.

  • Seeks out opportunities to understand business processes and make recommendations for improvement. Takes initiative to understand interconnected business practices.

  • Maintains confidentiality, as this position has frequent contact and access to confidential personnel information.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality work output.

  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing priorities, and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Identifies and resolves problems appropriately within areas of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn aspects of employment law, benefit programs, payroll concepts, and other human resource related subjects.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Associate's degree. Degrees in business management, communication, or human resources preferred.

  • Two years' experience in human resources, professional development, employee retention and engagement, assessment development or related areas.

  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.
