Human Resources Generalist

Rush University Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Business Partners to support client groups. Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans and designs initiative-specific communications and tools to support HRBP's client-focused action planning including employee engagement, talent management, performance management, etc.

  • Acts as a resource on various human resources matters in collaboration with the HRBPs, providing guidance, assistance, and support to management, supervisors, and administrators.

  • Regularly prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends and ensures the timely and accurate generation of regular frequency reports.

  • Responds to basic policy interpretation needs and addresses basic escalation action items from COE/Service Center.

  • Responds to employee complaints and investigatory matters including hotline complaint investigation initiation, compliance issues, background record hits, and general HR consults.

  • In conjunction with the HRBPs, develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of action.

  • Responds to payroll inquires and engages with the payroll department appropriately for resolve.

  • Ensures local compliance with HR policies, including the annual flu shot, annual mandatory training, manager performance review launch, etc.

  • In consultation with the HRBPs, addresses ad hoc compensation matters including job description evaluation processing, new job description creation, compensation determination for staff level roles, equity review, and market evaluation requests.

  • Completes organization redesign processing including RIF documentation creation and filing.

  • Assists managers in preparation for level 3 grievances.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or another related discipline required.

  • A minimum of three years of experience in an entry-level HR role or as a Human Resource Generalist.

  • HR certification preferred.

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required to assess and resolve issues around scheduling, projects, and/or daily responsibilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.

  • High organized to efficiently plan, track, evaluate, and follow up on multiple priorities for multiple people.

  • Sense of urgency around customer service to model behavior to others.

  • Ability and willingness to approach tasks with a spirit of collaboration in order to problem solve with peers and customers.

  • Viewed by others as approachable, dependable, and a self-starter.

  • Ability to quickly grasp the essence of an issue or problem, and a curiosity to uncover facts.

  • Has the desire and ability to either build a long-lasting solution or provide a quick fix and the judgment and expertise to distinguish which is appropriate in the given circumstance.

This position will carry out a variety of HR operations and contribute to the overall employee experience. Duties and Responsibilities * Advise incoming lawyers on firm programs and policies pre-offer through first day and monitor timely completion of new hire paperwork * Lead lawyer onboarding experience, liaison between incoming lawyer, legal recruiting and practice group and co-facilitate new hire orientation with HR Director * Serve as advisor to lawyers and partners regarding firm policies and procedures * Support HR Director with performance management process, supporting committee comprised of partners that oversees associate reviews * Assist HR Director with various lawyer committees (Performance Review Committee, Associate's Committee, Mentoring Committee, and Diversity Committee) * Lead the administration of lawyer leaves, including communicating with group heads * Direct data entry team to process timely and accurate employee status changes in the HRIS system * Conduct exit and retention interviews and summarize feedback * Manage work assigned to HR Coordinator, HR Assistant and HR interns * Assist HR Director with office and firmwide HR initiatives * Assist HR Director with employee relations and investigations * Analyze data related to attrition and lateral hire trends * Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the Duties and Responsibilities (Duties) above satisfactorily and meet the requirements below.
