Overview

The HR Generalist will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Support multi-facet Human Resources (HR) functions leading employee and labor relations; as well as training and development, compliance, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Administer company policies including but not limited to, the Comprehensive Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy, the Anti-Harassment Policy, the Inspection of Employee and Company Property, the Employee Assistance Program, and all NSI campus security policies and procedures. Work closely with leaders to ensure policies are adhered to.

  • Develop strong working relationships with Union representatives. Administer the Union Contract including the work rules. Work closely with leaders to perform investigations and manage the related accountability processes.

  • Work with Union leadership and production supervisors to trouble-shoot and work toward resolution of disputes and grievances.

  • Participate in negotiations: preparation and planning, raising awareness of labor dynamics to the team, working with union leadership and company leadership on improvement initiatives and administration of notes and legal documents

  • Maintain good rapport and working relationships with employees and supervisors in an effort to prevent, resolve, and/or cope with personnel issues affecting the workplace. Assist supervisors and managers in handling and resolution of personnel and/or performance issues.

  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety department on the behavior-based safety process, employee training, evacuation procedures, and physical/mental requirements (bonafide occupational qualifications) of all plant positions.

  • Manage the educational assistance policy and process.

  • Oversee the employee engagement survey development, delivery and analysis process. Maintain a pulse on retention for all levels of the organization by implementing assessment tools that measure culture, engagement and retention factors

  • Assist in the administration of the performance management process for production positions.

  • Support training and development efforts across all levels of the organization. Administer training, work with leaders to identify training needs, recommend training solutions

  • Support recruiting efforts including hiring, recruiting fairs, orientation, development, and retention procedures to support the company's growth.

  • Develop and deliver required LMS-based training, and maintain the training database including the education of other Managers on their responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of up-to-date employment and labor law and make recommendations for best practices

  • Maintain strong connections with educational and community members to promote and enhance the Systems Control brand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business administration or similar field.

  • 3+ years of experience in a human resource role, preferably in a unionized environment

  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state labor laws

  • A successful candidate will have spent ample time working in an HR generalist role, with a solid focus on labor relations

  • Ability to showcase excellent organizational skills, time management and project prioritization.
