The HR Generalist will work as a member of the HR team, responsible for providing a wide range of HR support and services to both employees and management. This role involves handling various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits questions, compliance, enforcing company policies and practices, and HR administration to the assigned business units.

We are seeking a talented and self-starting HR professional seeking employment in a fast-paced work environment with a variety of responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and maintaining processes by leveraging our technology and tools. You are more than capable of juggling a wide scope of projects simultaneously, while continuing to support NOCO's employees where needed. You are self-driven and have the ability to take initiative to solve problems and make improvements to processes and procedures where you see need. As the go-to person for questions and requests, you take pride in enabling employees to be successful.

What You Will Do

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, offboarding, and training and development.

  • Recruits, pre-screens, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, ensuring consistent application of the company's vision, values and beliefs. referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues with VP of People and Brand; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Manage and coordinate HR-related project activity resulting from business unit acquisitions or launches.

  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers.

  • Review ad-hoc reporting on HR metrics and data to drive insights and make informed decisions to improve HR processes and initiatives.

  • Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.

  • Assist with creation and publication of internal communications and company news.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records and documentation utilizing HRIS system.

  • Coordinates with payroll team member to ensure updates completed in HRIS for any changes to pay rate, status, etc.

  • Ensure maintenance and compliance with any required agencies per the employee role requirements, including DOT, FMCSA, EEO, and NYSERDA.

  • Ensures effective application of the annual performance management program through evaluation, analysis, and feedback. Conducts equity and utilization analysis of merit pay and other reward programs. Identifies compensation issues that are legitimately impacting their client groups and works with compensation and the manager to come to a resolution.

  • Foster a positive employee experience by working to creatively solve issues and improve the employee journey end to end.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR or related field.

  • Proven experience (5-10 years) in HR roles with track record of success and a focus on employee relations.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Strategic, critical problem solver who isn't afraid to get into the weeds; a real passion for working as a team.

  • Ability to build effective work relationships at all levels, influence behavior, and lead change.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • High degree of integrity and honesty; ability to exercise confidentiality and neutrality in complex and unique situations.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership capabilities.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business situations, comfortable working in high growth, fast-paced environment.

  • Effective listener and communicator able to influence actions and outcomes.

  • An ability to roll with punches is definitely a plus, and sometimes a sense of humor is key!

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize rapidly in a dynamic environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time

  • Pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds at a time

  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions
