Role Summary

Human Resources Generalist serves and leads as a positive, consistent and influential leader to motivate and support employees in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter principles, internal practices and regulatory compliance. Ensures positive and powerful work environments through demonstrated ability to recommend, plan, implement and continuously transform Human Resources processes, communications, procedures, organization and documentation. Encourages and exemplifies open communication, responsiveness, confidentiality, respect and fairness with and among employees.

Qualifications Necessary To Do The Job

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related Bachelor's degree.

  • HR Generalist 2+ years related experience;

  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent Professional Communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to influence behavior through positive interactions

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Human Resources Certification: PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP desired

  • Previous experience in HR Generalist role preferred

  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred

  • Physical Demands/Work Environment - Requires ability to perform work while sitting, standing, and walking with average mobility to move around in both plant and office environments and able to conduct work at a computer. Requires occasional local and International travel.

  • Must be able to work extended hours as required; including regularly investing time with employees on all shifts.

Main Duties

  • Develop positive employee relations and communications.

  • Proactively champion employee relations issues relating to compensation, benefits, employment, and policy and procedure interpretations

  • Prepare and present: employment offers, performance evaluations, compensation change letters, disciplinary reviews, investigative reports, severance documentation and proposals.

  • Directly responsible for leadership of assigned talent streams including recruiting, selection, placement and development.

  • Responsible for updating and maintenance of Magna Intranet database applications including PeopleSoft/Workday to ensure data integrity.

  • Secure and confidential communication and transfer of personal information records, as appropriate, necessary and required whether data is electronic, verbal or in print.

  • Investigate, document and follow-up on incidents of accidents, harassment and other employment matters and provide counsel for Corrective Action as needed

  • Effectively lead small and large group meetings

  • Directly support new employee orientations.

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and conduct exit interviews and share reported trends and pertinent feedback with managers.

  • Effective management and timing of the filing and maintenance of employment and benefit files.

  • Cooperation, open communication, support and encouragement for successful teamwork with others in the department, within the company and with outside vendors and providers

  • Support communication of employee relations activities within the organization such as company events, communication meetings, newsletters, company surveys, and other special projects, as needed.

  • Other assistance as appropriate with department responsibilities and process improvements.

  • Support New Hire Process and ensure new hire documents are completed accurately and provided timely

  • Support company initiatives while maintaining positive relationships with employees.

  • Supports workforce planning and development including direct leadership with reorganizations

  • Support updates for employee handbook in accordance with Magna Corporate.

  • Conduct Employee Relations Reviews with employees monthly or more frequently as required.

  • Implements and co-ordinates the employment recruitment, job posting, selection, placement, promotion and transfer processes for selected positions. Ensures status changes are submitted on timely basis

  • Performs Compensation Analysis and Reviews

  • Complete Fairness Committee Training and participate as needed

  • Support Service Award and other employee recognition initiatives

  • Assist with the maintaining up-to-date information on HRIS system (Peoplesoft/Workday) for all employees.

  • Perform other duties as directed.
