Jefferson Consulting Group is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support the Mission Support Team. This role will be Remote. The candidate must reside in the MD/VA/DC area for occasional on-site HR meetings, events and/or projects at the Jefferson office in Washington DC.
We are seeking a people-oriented Human Resources Generalist to assist with all aspects of onboarding and offboarding as well as support the day-to-day human resources functions. The Human Resources Generalist will ensure the HR department's operations run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to Jefferson as a whole. The position will provide support for all human resources related programs and work in a team effort. Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate new hire orientation and on-boarding activities as well as offboarding tasks to assure a smooth transition and an exceptional employee experience
Conduct new hire orientation virtually via Teams for all new employees which will include an overview of the timekeeping system, HR/benefit portal, policies, procedures & company information
Coordinate with Accounting, IT and other departments to ensure onboarding and offboarding process is streamlined
Gather and process all new hire/term paperwork and requirements, ensuring accuracy and dissemination to correct departments
Coordinate new hire meet and greets with management
Enter new hire information in multiple HR/Accounting systems, enroll new hires in benefits as necessary; track all tasks to completion
Serve as point of contact for all new hire questions and concerns during the initial employment phase as well as offboarding inquiries
Craft and send comprehensive emails to new hires and existing employees with information related to the organization, benefits, policies, procedures
Gather continuous feedback on the onboarding/offboarding process to make suggested improvements
Conduct regular audits of employment files and systems to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information throughout the HR department
Assist with the administration of the annual employee performance appraisal process
Assist with training and development initiatives
Assist with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion, particularly regarding Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action
Assist with the execution of strategies and initiatives to foster Jefferson's diversity goals
Assist with the completion of employment verifications and unemployment claims
Responsible for maintaining the HR mail inbox
Perform other HR duties/projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources management or equivalent; additional years of experience in lieu of college degree
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience as an HR Generalist or similar HR role
Familiarity with HRIS systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel/Teams
Good understanding of HR administration
Strong ability to communicate effectively and create engagement with staff to represent the company's values and culture
The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer-oriented mind-set; ability to work with all levels of professionals
Detail-oriented; ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution
Team player and adept at collaboration in a virtual environment
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to troubleshoot, identify improvements, and make simple decisions independently
Ability to commute to Washington DC for team meetings, special projects and events monthly
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as an HR Generalist or similar role for a government contractor is a major plus
Experience working with Diversity & Inclusion initiatives
Experience assisting with the implementation of an HRIS system
