Human Resources Title: HR Generalist (Payroll and Benefits) The Human Resource Generalist manages daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including administering pay, benefits, and leave; interviewing, hiring and orientation; and enforcing company policies and practices. This individual will be the subject matter expert in payroll and benefits.

This Generalist will also cross-train with the other departmental Generalist on employee engagement and retention duties. Authority to stop work. This authority permits any employee at any level to halt a job or task when a hazardous situation appears imminent, or they feel unsafe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Owns multi-state payroll and benefits processes with a high level of accuracy. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings, updates Job Descriptions Manages HRIS (personnel files, posting & recruiting, time tracking, leaves). Conducts background checks, reference checks and employee eligibility verifications. Manages new hire orientation.

Manages data and reporting and makes recommendations on process improvements. Manages work instructions, organizational chart, benefits related invoices. Handles payroll and benefits-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, payroll and employment law. Functions as backup to the other Generalist Other duties as required Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Excellent organizational skills, ability to proof own work and strong attention to detail – high level of accuracy. Strong ability to manage payroll and benefits. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and stay on track. Strong knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, especially related to payroll and benefits.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS; Paylocity experience preferred Experience and Education Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field and/or highly relevant experience. 5 years of experience administering payroll, benefits, and HR compliance. SHRM-CP or PHR certification desired or ability to obtain.
