The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR leadership. This position carries out day-to-day responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy and compliance, affirmative action and system administration.
Administer human resource plans, policies and procedures.
Development and implementation of policies, procedures, programs and projects.
Participate in developing departmental goals, objectives and systems.
Manage employee relations and performance management in assigned business areas.
Maintain HRIS system and support integrations and/or development of new systems.
Assist with regulatory compliance requirements.
Administer workforce analytics.
Responsible for employee communications & engagement.
Advise and answer questions regarding human resources policies, procedures, benefits matters.
Responsible for managing and proposing programs that increase Sector business and department performance, efficiency and effectiveness as well as increasing employee engagement and morale.
Partner with managers and employees in assigned areas with employment related matters including but not limited to counseling, investigations, performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions.
Assist with revising policies.
Main point of contact and administrator of Sector-wide emergency communication system.
Administer employment transactions and maintain records in HRIS system, point of contact for integration of new systems, improvement of current electronic systems.
Prepare and conduct site new hire orientations and exit interviews.
Report site workers' compensation claims and assist with any follow up action items.
Complete and maintain site AAP plan and other compliance requirements.
Generate Sector and site workforce analytical reports in support of business reviews, HR compliance and policy matters.
Responsible for HR content on Sector Intranet. Assist with the development of and work with specialists to post and ensure information is current, relevant and of interest to Sector employees.
Coordinate site company events (wellness activities, recognition program, flu clinic, blood drive, holiday events, etc) with support from site HR personnel.
Administrative tasks for site location such as maintaining HR records, filing, employment verifications, correspondence, unemployment claims and representation in hearings.
Maintains compliance with federal, state and local agencies and regulations.
Travel between buildings as needed.
Perform other special projects and duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in related field with 2-4 years HR generalist experience or any similar combination of education and experience.
Past defense industry experience preferred.
Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
Knowledge of Affirmative Action Plan preparation.
Knowledge of basic workers' compensation.
Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel with tact and diplomacy.
Must be detailed-oriented and provide accurate and error-free work.
Must be able to follow up in a timely manner and multi-task/prioritize in a fast-paced environment and with a sense of urgency.
Must work successfully in both independent and team oriented situations.
Experience using an Applicant Tracking System, Taleo experience a plus.
Knowledge of Costpoint and SAP experience a plus.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
