JOB SUMMARY

The HR Generalist provides a variety of Human Resource support services in various functional areas including but not limited to leave programs, employee relations, policy development/implementation, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compensation and administrative support. This position will coordinate and provide administrative support for corporate board meetings.

This is an in-person position located at Doyon Utilities, LLC Headquarters in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Salary Range: $40.43 - $44.69 per hour

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates with HR Manager to ensure effective high-quality delivery of service.

  • Administer leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc).

  • Guides managers and employees on the implementation of HR policies and processes to ensure appropriate legal (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.) and company compliance.

  • Assists in the tracking of HR related activity, analyze data for trends, gaps and provide ad hoc reports/ statistics to support departmental goals and initiatives.

  • Develop, implement, administer, and evaluate ongoing Human Resources policies, programs, functions in accordance with fair policies and procedures of the local, state, and federal law that support the organization's strategic initiatives and daily operations.

  • Supports the implementation of HR strategies, programs, and initiatives to enable the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.

  • Supports managers/supervisors in performance management and administering employee corrective action to include investigating and resolving routine employee relations issues.

  • Manages employee benefits programs to include assisting employees with the completion of enrollment in benefit plans, administer annual open enrollment and employee benefit education programs.

  • Communicates changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by benefit providers. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate recordkeeping and proper deductions.

  • Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with representatives.

  • Review, write, and maintain job descriptions to ensure they are up-to-date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Prepare annual EEO and Affirmative Action reporting. Assures accurate maintenance of the applicant tracking system, maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to federal regulations.

  • Serve as the backup for the HR Manager.

  • Coordinates with HR Manager to conduct recruitment efforts; to include preparation of job announcements and advertisements, provide department representatives with applicant information and scheduling interviews, participation in the interview process, and preparation of offers of employment to successful candidates.

  • Performs tasks and duties related to onboarding of new employees.

  • Answer employee inquiries and provide information for personnel actions, unemployment claims, work history, and employment verifications.

Qualifications

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR Management, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required

  • 4 years of direct Human Resource experience. Required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of human resources functions and procedures.

  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems.

  • Maintain knowledge of HR laws, current practices, and new developments.

  • Understanding of benefit programs and compensation practices.

  • Excellent communication, customer service and project organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP within 1 Year Required
