Domtar is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join the Human Resources (HR) Department at the Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC where approximately 680 tons of fine white paper and 320 tons of market pulp are produced daily.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist role will be to provide HR expertise and assistance in support of the policies, strategies, and direction for the Marlboro Mill. More specifically, this role will provide support for a wide variety of human resources activities including employee relations, recruiting, employee coaching and succession, organizational change management, EEO and affirmative action, employee onboarding and training, disability management, compensation and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Human Resources Manager with employee relations functions, including but not limited to policy interpretation, facilitating actions to resolve employee issues, and escalating issues to appropriate management team
Assist with recruitment process, hiring efforts, and onboarding
Assist with training initiatives and recordkeeping, including the development and execution of New Hire Orientation
Assist with timekeeping and payroll processing
Proactively build relationships with employees at all levels within the Mill
Support Mill's team-based Work Design System
Analyze turnover information and support knowledge transfer / succession planning efforts
Assist with Leave of Absence Programs and provide guidance to employees and management
Assist in development and maintenance of employee recognition programs
Organize, compile, and maintain personnel records and HR process / policy documentation (paper and electronic files)
Maintain confidential / sensitive information
Qualifications/Professional Experiences:
Recent graduate with bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development
Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting (preferred)
Ability to work effectively both independently, collaboratively, and cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
Strong analytical skills and timely decision-making ability
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-sufficient, results-oriented with a commitment to quality, service, and customer satisfaction
Proficient planning and organization skills
Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); knowledge in Outlook preferred
Attention to detail
Open-minded and outside of the box thinker
Demonstrated commitment to work within and create a safe and healthy work environment
