This position is a Human Resource Generalist role that supports the Director of Human Resources by providing support to the business and services related to all terms of employment, including recruitment, employment, salary guidelines, educational training, safety, etc. Ensures that programs and projects as directed by the local Director HR are completed within established guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide assistance in the recruitment of all hourly and non-managerial salaried employees; schedules and participate in interviews, performs reference checks for areas of responsibility.
Working in conjunction with our recruiting department, liaison with temporary employment agencies to obtain temporary staffing as needed.
Assists in the preparation and/or delivery of employee training on an as-needed basis. Maintains all training records including entry in our training management system.
Ensures that all company and location policies and procedures are effectively communicated, supported, and administered.
Assists in the training of managers on HR laws and Company policies as needed. Ensures managers and employees are up to date on any policy changes.
Assists the HR Director investigating employee relations issues for Associate level employees.
Creates communication channels for hourly workers
Promotes harmony in the workforce through good and open communication; fair, consistent, and respectful treatment. In conjunction with the HR Manager, guides supervisors in maintaining consistent discipline and ensures all disciplinary action is administered in accordance with established company procedures.
Works with benefits to assist in actively pursuing a return-to-work program in collaboration with the employee's physician(s).
Maintains an open dialogue with HR Director on issues of importance within the operation.
Responsible for ensuring all activity for areas of responsibility are properly approved and documented in accordance with Company, department and regulatory requirements.
Own the HR onboarding process for internal and external employees within their function area. Partner with managers and departments to ensure positive experience for new employees.
Acts as a coach to managers regarding Performance Improvement & Development Plans and progressive discipline to address challenging performance management situations. Support managers in developing and communicating plans to address areas of improvement.
Supports off site (and out of state) operations locations, traveling to these locations monthly.
Be an active member of the CooperCares team that develops and oversees employee engagement activities.
Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules
Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate
Must possess bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; or an equivalent of education and experience.
3+ years of Human Resources generalist experience supporting manufacturing operations.
Prior experience investigating employee relations issues.
Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be knowledgeable about employment laws and regulatory issues (i.e. ADA, FMLA, EEO, AAP, etc.)
Must be extremely well organized and have an eye for details.
Excellent communicator and must work well with all levels of the organization.
Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality needed for this position as well as be a trusted member of the HR Staff
Bilingual with Spanish speaking desired
Ability to travel approx. 15% per month to several offsite locations. Depending on location, travel is made by car or airplane, with overnight stays required.
