The City of Saint Charles Human Resources Department is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Generalist. As a Human Resources Generalist, you'll play a pivotal role in performing a multitude of functions and processes related to human resources. Knowledge and experience with collective bargaining agreements, benefit administration, and payroll entry and processing will significantly contribute to success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal laws for human resources.
Data entry and analysis as it pertains to payroll entry, processing and reporting to include research of payroll discrepancies and inquiries.
Acts as benefits coordinator for the City Retirees, employee bill reconciliation, and supplemental invoicing.
Coordinates with Risk Management to ensure timely and accurate incident/accident reporting.
Assists in employee events held by the City.
Conducts external/internal surveys and sunshine requests as directed.
Assists with recruiting such as preparing and performing interviews and new hire orientations.
Assist with HR compliance efforts, including ensuring adherence to employment laws and regulations.
Provides technical expertise to departments, management, staff, labor union representatives, job applicants, and others regarding the rationale of and proper application of personnel procedures and policies.
ACA reporting coordination.
Performs special projects for Director as needed.
Assists in responding to employment and benefit inquiries.
Attends relevant continuing education, conferences and trainings.
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Associates degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or an equivalent amount of human resources experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience working in a human resources field, government experience a plus.
Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication, administrative, and computer skills required.
