Human Resources Generalist
Location:South Chicago 9119 S. Exchange Ave Chicago, IL 60617
Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am- 5:00pm
Chicago Family Health Center is seeking a highly motivated and professional Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for managing daily activities in the Human Resources Department and ensuring compliance with all policies and guidelines. As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play a key role in administering benefits and leaves, overseeing HR reporting, talent acquisition and onboarding initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and competency assessments and certifications.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field required.
- Minimum of two (2) year of progressive experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of two (2) years with a focus on onboarding, , and disability very strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in health care and/or FQHC strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, and related state and federal regulations required.
Work Arrangement: This role is eligible for a "hybrid" or "remote" work arrangement. If hybrid, it is expected this person would be able to meet for "in person" meetings when needed or at the request of others. In-person meetings may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.). There may also be the availability to work from home when appropriate.

- Compensation is based on each candidate's experience, skills, and education within the range identified for the role. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements of the role will start at entry in the range. Any additional skills, experience, and education will be reflected in the compensation offered.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field required.
- Minimum of two (2) year of progressive experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of two (2) years.
