Position Summary

Administers Human Resource programs and policies, and performs functions in various aspects of human resources; carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: talent acquisition & onboarding, policy & employment law compliance, benefits administration & member goodwill, payroll, employee relations & engagement, and performance management.

Key Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Partners with hiring managers/supervisors to create or revise job descriptions and develop recruitment strategies.

  • Creates job postings, engages in outreach to colleges and various diversity organizations; engages with external recruitment firms when necessary.

  • Screens applicants and coordinates interviews with applicants; interviews applicants personally; initiates background verifications; and prepares recommendations for hire.

  • Facilitates a positive onboarding experience.

Policy & Employment Law Compliance

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and government regulations.

  • Helps implement HR policies and procedures and communicates to all levels of the organization.

  • Incorporates community outreach into selection and hiring activities to meet the requirements and goals of Central's Affirmative Action Plans and prepares all related reporting.

  • Maintains OSHA Log and Summary in accordance with federal requirements, including the documentation and reporting associated with any occupational accidents, in conjunction with Safety Manager.

Payroll, Benefits Administration & Goodwill

  • Prepares weekly payroll and related reporting.

  • Explains benefit programs to applicants and members; distributes/explains enrollment materials.

  • Facilitates leave management activities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

  • Plans & coordinates corporate goodwill events in conjunction with Accounting/Admin dept.

  • Provides excellent service to members and supervisors/manager with routine HR-related questions, maintaining confidentiality.

Member Relations & Engagement

  • Supports members and managers/supervisors with routine HR-related questions, needs, and inquiries, providing excellent service.

  • Investigates member allegations and incidents, prepares appropriate documentation, and makes recommendations on proposed course(s) of action to resolve. Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion in involving other members.

  • Supports department and company initiatives and objectives for member engagement and retention; makes recommendations and helps facilitate plans.

Performance Management

  • Provides support and guidance to supervisors/managers with overall performance management activities, including the annual performance appraisal cycle, member development and advancement, and in addressing performance-related concerns promptly & effectively.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university.

  • 3 years' + related experience as an HR Generalist.

  • Experience with HR technology platforms (HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, Payroll).

  • Experience working for a small business (less 100 employees) and/or in a production environment strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

PHR certification and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
