Under the direction of the Human Resource Manager, the Human Resources Generalist interfaces and serves as a human resource point of contact for Calista and it's family of Companies. This position carries out responsibilities requiring an intermediate level of analytical ability in the following functional areas: leave administration, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance. This position serves as primary recruiter in Company staffing activities.
Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining job descriptions, including position pricing, and determining FLSA status.
Post job vacancies, conduct full-cycle recruitment and assist Managers in the interview, selection and offer processes.
Conduct new hire on-boarding and orientation on company policies and programs.
Respond to applicant and employee inquiries, communicate and ensure employees and management understand laws, regulations, organization policies, procedures, and programs.
Run reports and compile metrics
Maintain department files and logs in line with company policies and government regulations and provide copies of documentation to payroll and benefits file when needed.
Examine employee files and data to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons.
Assist with completion of HRIS/HCM administration tasks; perform routine processes pertaining to applicant and employee data for active, inactive, and terminated employees in accordance with legal requirements and internal procedures; Coordinate and document company provided training and maintain both, electronic and paper training files utilizing the Company HRIS system.
Retain HR records according to company record retention requirements;
Assist in developing internal work policies and procedures that comply with regulations, align with best practices, and ensure consistent quality human resources services and support Calista's values and business goals.
Assist in the support of the Company Performance Management Plan:
o Ensure periodic and annual performance reviews are conducted and documented.
o Assist with the development of Performance Improvement Plans.
o Assist with the development of Individual Development Plans.
o Assist with maintaining case files.
o Assist with review of disciplinary situations, terminations, layoffs and internal or external investigations and support management and employees to ensure fairness and consistency to avoid charges of unlawful discrimination and unfair labor practices.
o Draft disciplinary Corrective Action Forms and organize associated documentation and submit to the Human Resources Manager for review and finalization.
o Administer employee termination processing at the direction of the Human Resources Manager.
o Serve as a point of contact for employees to express concerns.
Respond in a timely manner to employee relations inquiries.
Assist Workforce and Shareholder Development team with program and project activities.
Work as a "team player" with customers and co-workers in a respectful, professional, and supportive manner; effectively contribute to building a first-rate team. Seek and participate in development and training opportunities to stay current on HR best practices and current regulations, laws and compliance requirements.

Position may require occasional travel remotely.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
HS Diploma or equivalent certification required; Post high school education preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred; year-for-year human resources experience may substitute for four-year degree.
Minimum three years of human resources experience in two or more functional areas; generalist and employee relations experience strongly preferred.
Current SHRM-CP, or PHR certification strongly preferred, or eligible and willing to obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
Experience working within an Alaska Native Corporation, preferred
Experience working within workforce training and development programs, preferred
Experience working within a multi-business sector environment, preferred.
Valid state driver's license with clean driving record and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's Driving Polices.
Ability to pass a drug, background and screening.
