Job Summary:

The job of an HR Generalist involves managing various human resources functions to support the plant's operations, ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

The role of an HR Generalist is essential to the effectiveness and success of the HR function at a plant. They provide operational support, specialized expertise, local insights, and execution capabilities that complement the strategic leadership of the HR Manager. Together, with the HR Manager, the HR Generalist forms a cohesive team that contributes to the overall achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

Given the sensitive nature of HR and employee data, maintaining confidentiality is crucial. This role must adhere to strict ethical standards and ensure the security of our company and employee data.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment for various positions in the manufacturing plant, including hourly, skilled trades, and administrative roles.
  • Assist in conducting interviews, coordinate job fairs, and collaborate with hiring managers to select qualified candidates.
  • Prepare job postings, screen resumes, and facilitate onboarding and new hire orientation.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management, addressing concerns, conflicts, or complaints in a timely manner.
  • Promote a positive work environment by fostering open communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and disciplinary actions in line with company policies.
  • Assist in coordinating and delivering training programs for new hires and ongoing employee development.
  • Identify training needs and work with management to create relevant development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory training requirements within the manufacturing environment.
  • Assist in the performance appraisal process, supporting managers in setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal labor laws and company policies, including OSHA, EEO, and FMLA.
  • Maintain records related to employee data, including compensation, benefits, and personal information.
  • Oversee time and attendance compliance, including overtime calculations, attendance tracking, and ensuring labor laws are adhered to.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, retirement plans, and paid time off.
  • Assist in salary and compensation analysis for internal equity and external market competitiveness.
  • Partner with safety teams to maintain and monitor a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Assist with workplace safety initiatives and accident reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze HR-related reports, including turnover rates, staffing levels, and training effectiveness.
  • Track key HR metrics to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files
  • Prepare new hire files
  • Processes mail
  • Completes I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
  • Assists with processing terminations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-5 years of experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR policies, and best practices.
  • Experience with recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Proficient with HRIS and MS Office.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is a plus.
