The HR function at Amazon has a five-pronged mission: "Enable Growth", "Develop Large Leaders", "Cultivate Culture", "Enhance Employee Experience" and "Operate Optimally." This leader will focus on developing and implementing HR programs that support a high growth environment and ensures that these strategies are aligned with the business objectives and Amazon's culture.

This HR leader will be a strategic partner, actively working with the senior-most leaders across Amazon's organization. This role requires equal parts strategic thinking and diving deep into practical application with teams at all levels and on a global scale.

This leader may hail from an organization that has exposed him or her to innovative and fast-pace teams across a wide variety of industries and functions. He or she will have developed a vision and strategy that inspires teams and partners in a dynamic, high velocity environment.

He or she ideally will have had experience in applying operational excellence techniques to implement a vision. This leader will have demonstrated the ability to strike the right balance between speed/flexibility and process/compliance. He or she will be highly analytical about leading the function and ensure that the organization rigorously measures and analyzes the right things to drive success.

Working closely with specialist HR teams, as well as site and international HR colleagues, you'll also keep the right focus on organizational effectiveness, career development and rewards. In addition, this role will be accountable for driving key initiatives and projects in areas such as such as global organization design, diversity, leadership development, and leading annual talent management processes.

Duties specific to this position: The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. This people and culture leadership role simultaneously acts as an employee champion and as a change agent for the company. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs communicating requirements and collaboratively leading initiatives from strategic to tactical across all levels of the company. Primary responsibilities: * Leading, designing and maintaining HR operations including HRIS (BambooHR), benefit assessment and management, work force talent acquisition priorities, documenting and analyzing HR related metrics and related reporting. * Working directly with department managers coaching and advising them in attracting, retaining and managing employees. * Consulting and advising management on organizational design and effectiveness plans and strategies including team and people development initiatives. * Assisting executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's comprehensive compensation program. * Continually reviewing and making recommendations to management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on employee matters. * Maintaining knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensuring organization compliance. * Maintaining responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all employee matters. * Conducting issue and performance assessments and investigations consulting with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters. * Inspire and champion a culture of high impact, fun and engaged employees. Required Qualifications: * 7+ years' results-driven human resources experience with progressively increasing responsibilities (within high tech and software businesses). Government contracting experience preferred * Bachelor's degree business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience * Excellent project management, coordination and planning capabilities * Strong attention to detail * Must be a U.S. Citizen * Must be local to Herndon, VA Desired Qualifications: * Start-up environment ideal * Senior HR Business Partner experience in technology-based company * Master's degree in business, human resources or related field. * HRIS experience (BambooHR) * Unanet experience * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills * PHR or SPHR * SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
