Position Description

Human Resources Coordinator, Salary: $45,133 per year, USC Aiken Human Resources

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator will assist the Director and Assistant Director in coordinating the following areas of HR for USC Aiken: Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment.

Coordinator will perform general HR support as well. Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree and 1 years related human resources experience; Must be able to drive to Columbia or other locations for meetings and training.

Preferred Requirements: 2 or more years of HR experience in classification/compensation and/or recruitment in a higher education setting. Additional skills, knowledge and abilities: Considerable knowledge of classification, compensation, and recruitment processes; general knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management; must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and competent in spreadsheet and database management software packages as well; excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills are required; occasionally, overtime may also be required; must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service; and must be able to demonstrate patience in dealing with people.

Assists the HR Director and Assistant Director, in consultation with Columbia Office of Classification and Compensation, determine correct classification of position description(s) based on qualifications and salary administration guidelines; helps ensure that equity issues are reviewed and addressed as necessary in the salary administration process. Aids the Dir/Asst.

Dir in assisting hiring managers with position descriptions as needed when ADRs, vacancies, reclassifications, etc., arise.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty

Assists the Assist Dir with executing the staff job vacancy recruitment process for all advertised staff positions at USC Aiken to include posting on USC jobs and on the USCA website. Helps the Asst.

Dir coach and guide hiring managers in the processes using the online (PeopleAdmin) applicant system and provides guidance from application review to the completion of hiring process. Aids in reviewing finalist applications for each posting to ensure they meet minimum qualifications. Drafts salary review for classified finalists for HR Director's review. Assist HR Director in submitting HAM and initial hiring proposals to Columbia for approval prior to offers being made.

Assist the Assist Dir with executing the faculty job vacancy recruitment process for all advertised faculty positions at USC Aiken to include posting on USC jobs and the USCA website. Helps the Asst.

Dir coach and guide hiring managers in the processes using the online (PeopleAdmin) applicant system and provides guidance from application review to the completion of hiring process. Sends ad to Provost's office for them to post with paid sources.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty

Assists the public, applicants, and hiring managers with questions regarding position postings and application status. Activates applications as needed.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Perform general office administration such as answering phones and provide basic HR information to internal and external customers; serve as backup for all HR related processing as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to include participating in University activities and serving on committees.
