Location Description

The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits and 9Lives. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. With so much to do and see, Bloomsburg is a great place to live, work and play!

Responsibilities

The HR Business Partner serves in a local leadership role ensuring the location has a ready and engaged workforce. They help Operations leaders accomplish their people plans by coaching, influencing, and ensuring best practices are implemented. As a strategic partner, they contribute to the development and the accomplishment of the location-wide business plan and objectives. They report to the on-site HR Manager, and they support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices and plant safety and environmental practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • A credible partner to deliver value to the Plant Operations and their management teams that enable them to develop individual employee abilities resulting in increased organizational capabilities.

  • Embed engagement, safety, and a performance management culture within the business area as a means of driving business improvement. Ensure clear goals and objectives are established, feedback is given appropriately, and our values are reinforced and lived every day.

  • Drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organizational change, structures, people processes and business improvement initiatives within the customer to improve business efficiency and people management, allowing for flexibility and planned growth. This is accomplished through partnership with other resources including HR Centers of Excellence.

  • Provides feedback to HR Leaders, Specialists, and peer groups on implementation and utilization of tools to ensure successful execution of HR initiatives. Responsible for representing the client's needs and providing client feedback to the Specialist teams.

  • Work in partnership with Operations to manage employee relations issues. Build management responsibility and capability for managing ER issues.Responsible for talent selection and management processes locally including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding, management, development, and separations both individually and by partnering with other HR team members.

  • Minimizes business risk and enhance the company culture by ensuring that all management are knowledgeable in all required legal subject areas: Compliance, Code of Conduct, Diversity & Sexual Harassment, Interviewing and selection skills, employment law, etc.

  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Local legal and regulatory requirements. Manage employment and labor relations.

  • Strives to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with union leadership and union members. In coordination, when appropriate, with corporate Labor Relations resources, works to administer and resolve grievances and other labor charges.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional leadership skills that have been demonstrated by achieving desired results through others and building effective partnerships through influence and relationship building skills.

  • An in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of HR processes and systems.

  • Proven ability to balance strategic and tactical skills. Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation communication skills.

  • Comprehensive HR business process knowledge, including applicant tracking systems, talent management, change management, HCM suite experience: benefits, payroll, time and attendance, performance management, compensation, employee and manager self-service experience.

  • Effective project management experience preferred.

Education:

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree in Business, Human Resources

Experience:

  • 5+ years of HR increasing responsibility within HR environment. Ideally to include progressive systems development experience preferably in a manufacturing plant, DC, corporate or retail.

  • Experience with multiple HCM systems.

Work Environment

The primary work environment for this position is typical of an office work environment, although it is within a manufacturing site. Therefore, it will require periodic presence in a manufacturing environment where appropriate personal protective equipment is prescribed and must be used.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Kronos, Project Management software, Microsoft Office.
